Toni Morrison wove a masterful tale that opens the readers eyes to the unfortunate reality of a young black girl's perception of beauty. While this isn't the primary focus of the book, Morrison made it a point to retrace all of the steps that lead to the young girls' downfall. Such an important read
Wonderful read.
Winfrey covers the struggles we go through, the stereotypes we're faced with and the taboo that is "the black woman." Along with her narrative, she includes testimonies and stories of women who have broken glass ceilings in their fields and encourages other women to do the same.
I loved the transparency that she displayed with each topic that she discussed. This book forced me to think, and that's what I loved about it.
