#fotofriday. Wishing everyone a great weekend. Got about a hundred pages to go on Windup Girl. Cautiously optimistic that I can finish in a couple days

I was in San Antonio this week and had to at least go see the Alamo. Surprisingly they wouldn‘t tell me where the basement is. 😄

#firstsentence. When he was nearly thirteen, my brother Jem got his arm badly broken at the elbow

And as a bonus cause it sums up us all...Until I feared I would lose it, I never loved to read. One does not love breathing

Goes without saying this is a brilliant novel, plus audio is read by Sissy Spacek

#firstsentence No! I don‘t want the mangosteen

New thing I‘m starting. Just posting the first sentence when I start a new book. Maybe it will catch on, or maybe everyone will hate it. 🙃

Happy #fotofriday. This image was taken at the Ringling Museum in Sarasota. Some may say it‘s a little bit creepy. Thoughts? (The image is a little cropped, the full image is in my LT 75 challenge group thread)

I know I‘m late to the game with this, but better late than never...

Her laughter catches him off guard. As if it‘s carbonated and someone has poured it too fast and it‘s bubbling over in all directions. It doesn‘t fit at all with the grey cement and right-angled garden paving stones. It‘s an untidy, mischievous laugh that refuses to go along with rules and prescriptions.

Coming from a broken home in Chicago, Diamond wanted to write a biography of John Hughes. He wasn‘t successful. What he did write, however was a compelling memoir of the attempt.

A story that explores the aftermath of an EMP burst over the US. Told from the perspective of a former military officer, now college professor in a small rural North Carolina town. Doesn‘t pull any punches, very believable. Still getting used to the rankings here. Probably somewhere in between Pick and So-So

Pickpick

A quiet but powerful story of longing and desire, with a dash of Murakami narrative twists. I‘m not worthy to figure out the underlying metaphors. More eventually on LT

Happy #fotofriday Folks. This is a favorite image of mine that I took several years ago at a local aquarium.

On the reading front, still in Sputnik. Should be done this weekend.

“The more I think about it, the more I‘d like to take a rain check on the topic of me. What I‘d like to know more about is the objective reality of things outside myself. How important the world outside is to me, how I maintain a sense of equilibrium by coming to terms with it. That‘s how I‘d grasp a clearer sense of who I am.”

1. LibraryThing and the 75 book challenge is my primary home. I also use a paper journal to record my yearly reads. I do post my reads to GR just as a backup
2. No preference, but the occasional forays into 2nd person has been interesting
3. I‘m new to Litsy so it really won‘t affect me. Come on over to LT.
4. Again, I‘m new so I don‘t have any one to tag 🙃

On LT I do a #Fotofriday post on my thread in the 75 book challenge group. I thought I would start sharing it here as well. Book-wise I‘m going to start the Mitchell after I finish Underground Airline

RaimeyGallant I'm the same name on LT as of a few days ago, if you have any interest in being my sixth friend. ;) *crosses fingers* 6y
Mahsdad I will do that. But it‘s funny, the friend aspect didn‘t seem to be a big deal on LT. Come visit the 75 Book Challenge group. It‘s my (and many others) primary home on LT. 6y
Mahsdad @RaimeyGallant - I couldn‘t find you. Is your LT account public? I‘m the same there too, add me if you can find me 6y
RaimeyGallant Yep. I haven't figured out how to add people yet though. :) 6y

I left Saint Anselm‘s and walked back to the car, not even checking for my new friends on the porch. All around me, all inside me, was a feeling of unease, of incipience. A murky sky, holding the possibility but not the promise of rain.

RaimeyGallant Nice quote. And welcome to Litsy! #LitsyWelcomeWagon Some of us put together Litsy tips to help new Littens navigate the site. It's the link in my bio on my page in case you need it. Or if you prefer how-to videos, @chelleo put some together at the link in her bio. 6y
Chelleo Welcome🤗 6y
rosalita I really liked this one. An unusual premise and I thought it was carried through really well. 6y
