Each chapter is from the point of view of a different main character, which does slow down the story. I strongly advise sticking with it, as it becomes an all encompassing world. Like all the better multi book fantasies, pretty soon I found myself living through my day with the world and characters always at the edges of my consciousness. I am now in book 4/5, and just flat out enjoying myself. This guy can write!
