As usual, superb storytelling from RAH. Lazarus Long, aka Woodrow Wilson Smith, aka many others... is a highly memorable protagonist with a unique story. 2300+ years old and very much in love with life, as well as numerous women. 😁 Warning: plot involves incest, so if that puts you off, beware.

Heinlein's sci-fi from the 50s holds up so well two generations later because, first and foremost, he's a damn fine storyteller.
This is one of those books where I loved the secondary characters, notably the brilliant Betty Sorenson and the wise and crafty Mr. Kiku, more than the protagonists.

I enjoyed this one, but there was a scene where I just wanted someone - anyone - to argue with one statement by one character. The author's bio included his email address, so I emailed him with my thoughts. He sent back a friendly reply. Good guy!

Just didn't enjoy this at all.

DefLeppard I read this one too and wasn't keen, bit of a pointless going nowhere story. :( 8y

Great, under-rated children's book (for children of all ages, of course)! 🙂👍🏼

It hooked me from the beginning, but the ending made me throw the book across the room. Probably the only time I've ever done that.
