Mehso-so

Mmf. The bleakness was awesome. The plot kind of meanders a bit, and I really wasn't sure what it was about or why we're given these sets of characters until the end which was pretty damn satisfying. It's an epic, somber character study. The skeleton of which you'd be able to see in Station Eleven, which is also why I picked it up, b/c SE's author cited this book's nonchalant way of narrating tragic, traumatic events in the characters' lives.

Pickpick

I actually fell in love with listening to it because the narrator was so good. And thank the gods he kept reading because at some parts I thought it got definitely cringe-worthy but - pun intended - he and Rainbow carried on. I wanted to just treat this book as just a quick paperback you toss and never look back on but damned if these characters aren't the most infectious creations I've read in YA.

Odd1Out [Cont'd] That's another reason I think the medium worked so well for this story. It's totally character-driven. Little to no description about the surroundings and a very simple plot but the characters make this a joy to read/listen. 6y
