I love finding signed editions at Barnes & Noble! And I love Poe, so I hope this is good!
My #library has more donations than we‘ll ever sell at our booksale and since we‘re going to be having an #alteredbook contest this summer, I made an example. Everything is made from the book, except the mini book covers, which I printed out, and the little paintings, which I printed out and glued onto some plastic buttons I had laying around. And since it‘s a Strike book, I was able to sneak my signature in it 🥸
I really liked it, though to me it seemed to drag in some spots and hurry too much in others. I wanted more REVENGE lol. But the ending was sweet. After finishing, I reread the beginning, which now made more sense, and figured out who was telling it, but I‘m still unsure why she tells us Malachi disappeared or why we are led to believe he had more impact on the plot or the outcome, did I miss something?? I‘m not great at deciphering subtext!
I decided it was time for reread, it‘s been a looooong time. It‘s waaaaay more messed up than I remember it being but I still love it 💀
After all these years I have managed to hang on to all the early paperbacks with the peekaboo covers, I‘m so glad I never got rid of them. The only one that didn‘t make it was my original Flowers in the Attic, I lost that one years ago 😩 I do have a first edition in hardcover tho.
I‘m about halfway through, and it‘s decent so far, but…
I‘m noticing something about the newer books I‘ve read lately and I honestly don‘t know if it‘s a new trend in literature or it‘s just me getting older and crankier, but I‘ve been running across a lot of unlikable protagonists.
Sometimes the reader is obviously not meant to like them (Yellowface) but books like this one, I think I‘m supposed to like them but I can‘t stand them.
Just me?
I found every character so pretentious and unlikable that I wanted Hill House to eat them all.

I‘m not really the type to rhapsodize my job, but this is nice!
The book is cute, though it loses me a bit when it gets into writing, but then I‘m not a writer.
I‘m doing a pop-up book club at the library for the eclipse in April. Where I live, we are in the path of totality so it‘s going to be pretty cool.
What better book to celebrate an eclipse than Dolores Claiborne, lol #IYKYK

I was on Litsy in its early days but deleted my account years ago. I just need a place to talk books! I have no followers yet so I‘ll be shouting into the wind for a while, but that‘s ok.
The pic: Occupational hazard of being a public librarian—book gluttony. And there‘s a stack at home yet. The power corrupts.
