I read the Farseer trilogy last year and fell in love with this author. Ship of Magic tells you the story of a trader's family, a pirate and ships that talk. It has intrigue, drama, some romance, social criticism and even a taste of feminism. It's not a read for everyone because it can get a bit slow and depressing but it sure is a well-written book with a complex world building and great characters.
