Black Ice: The Val James Story | John Gallagher, Valmore James

This is a book about the journey of a man from childhood going on his journey to play hockey. However unlike most books that follows the journey of a hockey player who followed his dream to play professionally. His story has a different spin. Val James went on to become the first American born black hockey player in the NHL. His journey included dealing with racism. This book was a fun read.

Anakin laughed lightly. "Who will restore peace to the galaxy if we don't?"
Obi-Wan returned a tight-lipped nod. "At least you said we." #starwars

A good read. No relation (I'm a Burrell too) but appreciated the details he shared in the book. Makes you rethink a number of things. And that's the best part making me think.

An honest look at relationships as he struggled about why he had trouble maintaining a long lasting one. A good read.

It was a pleasure reading this book. I modeled my book Seed Time along the lines of his book.

It was an interesting journey writing this book. Currently doing revisions. Will say more about my book later.

This was a nice mini series to get into. Typical Marvel it's more about the character than the threat of the moment. So while exploring the origins of a black superhero who disappeared in the 1960's that is needed in modern times. We see race relations between blacks and whites in the span of 50 years. A good read for most casual comic fans. #comics #marvel #marvelcomics

It was an interesting read. This book takes place partly during the events of Revenge of the Sith when the clones turned on the Jedi leading to everyone scattering. After that you see what happens to the survivors who are being hunted. Over the course of the book you see gradually Darth Vader becoming the menace that is seen in the original Star Wars trilogy. An excellent read. #starwars

Cesarmm I enjoyed reading this as well, it was good insight into what happened after the Kenobi fight. 3y

I read this prior to seeing the Revenge of the Sith. The book leads up to the events in the movie. General Grievous has more backstory here. You see how people became suspicious of Palpatine. If you wondered what Obi-Wan meant about Cato Neimoida it's in this book. All the characters you meet in Revenge of the Sith are fleshed out well here. At times it feels slow. But give it time and it'll be worth your while. #starwars

The focus of the book is on leadership building. However if you have no intentions of becoming a minister this probably isn't a book for you. However it was a good biblically based book that helped develop people to become leaders.

His story is inspirational. His journey to gaining the skills he had as a surgeon are admirable. But some parts of his life when you look them up are suspect. However it's a good read.

I enjoyed reading this book. There was more hype for the Steve Harvey book. My mom was so excited to read Steve Harvey's book and was very disappointed. However after reading this book she learned a great deal about men and women.

This book from my cousin was a real treat. His fame is well deserved at the school. He was a walking talking history book when I met him. I appreciated the wealth of knowledge he shared. And in flipping through the pages of photos used for the book you can see the rich history of his time at Hampton University. You also see a collection of events locally. There were plenty of photos taken by him over the years. I enjoyed looking through the book.

The book was very detailed covering their entire journey. The early years as children. How they became leaders. The differences and similarities. The highs and lows for both of them. So it was a thoroughly enjoyable journey reading wise. The writer really did research in exploring the two leaders. And in conclusion shows what future leaders need to be like.

An excellent and detailed account showing the highs and lows of his journey. The movie was ok. But you really need to read the book.

Recently bought this book. As a self published author looking to get a handle on marketing my current book. As well as future books. This book is helping me develop a better mindset on how to get it done. It's a good read. I found this book on the receipt from Barnes and Noble as a recommended book after buying another self publishing book.
