Yay! I did it! 🎉🎉 I'm still listening to the tagged book (& likely will for a few days lol) and have been reading I Hunt Killers on and off. The Harry Potter book is the only true complete. 📖❤

At work now, again. Got a little ebook reading done before and after catching some sleep today, but back to listening to the tagged book. I think I may actually make it for the first time! My snacks right now: mostly black coffee and an energy bar 😅

Candy and how far I've gotten so far. Listening to tagged book. My day was incredibly packed and I've just gotten to lunch at work. I hope 30 mins past midnight is acceptable for a Saturday post 😬

Pickpick

Trying to get the bulk of my reading done today for the readathon. Good start so far.
I've got a lot of "well that's convenient" issues with this book and some things I don't remember from my first couple of reads that don't quite make sense. Still so nostalgic and good!

DrexEdit A Harry Potter re-read is on my bucket list. 😊 3d
UnidragonFrag @DrexEdit I'm borrowing the audiobooks from library so it's taking forever Haha 3d

1. Hm. I like Scrabble, but that's hard. I have SO many board games. Maybe I'll post a picture one day 😏
2. Japan!
3. I've passed it. Secondary, optional goal is 100, but I doubt I'll get there. I'm at 89.
4. Hm.. don't know if I've run into that situation. I've put off reading someone and regretted it when I finally did lol
5. What is your dream job?

#friyayintro @howjessreads

UnidragonFrag I'm also just over 4 hours for the readathon! 4d
ljuliel I had my dream job. Nurse. Best job ever. 4d

gradcat Retirement is my dream job. 😂 And yes, kudos to @ljuliel . Nurses & teachers have saved my life more than once! ♥️ 3d
UnidragonFrag @gradcat yes! Same with teachers! I wish I could retire, but I'm 99% sure that unless I fall into a boatload of cash I'm going to have to work until I literally cannot anymore 😂😭 3d
Crimson613 Woot woot Japan!! not sure, I'm very bad at keeping interested in jobs but rn it's teaching 😅 might be something else in a year or two hmmm 3d
UnidragonFrag @Crimson613 yeah, same. I've bounced around a lot the last few years but right now I work in the death industry and it's stuck for a bit. Ideally, I'd like to write fulltime. Maybe one day :) 3d
Crimson613 @UnidragonFrag what do you do? If you don't mind my asking. Ohh writing is a good one! I'm sure you'll be able to one day :D did you want like author writing? Or what kind? 3d
UnidragonFrag @Crimson613 the donation side of it. It's interesting work and nice to help folks out. Dying is so expensive and unfortunately some funeral homes bleed folks as much as they can. Yeah, fiction writer. I've got so much uncompleted stuff 😅 3d
Crimson613 @UnidragonFrag so true! and that sounds great, glad to know someone's on our side :'D nice! Spoken like a true writer 😂 3d
UnidragonFrag @Crimson613 I don't talk about it much as it makes people uncomfortable, but yeah lol thanks 😋 do you also write? 3d
Crimson613 @UnidragonFrag sort of? I blog so I like to think I write "consistently" but in terms of storywriting, it's been a while. I have a lot of unfinished work too but I haven't gotten around to working on it, mainly I keep to fanfiction ?? 3d
UnidragonFrag @Crimson613 I can't do blogging. My life is not conducive with consistency lol ... hey, spoken like a true writer yourself! 😀 I've just finished a Harry Potter book and it's making want to hop back into that fanfic. I haven't written any fanfic in over a decade 😂 3d
Crimson613 @UnidragonFrag omg I love Harry Potter stories!! I never got into the fandom entirely but a lot of ppl would do crossovers or put characters into the hp world and it was awesome xD lol, I guess yeah 😂 and blogging consistently is so hard! I still struggle with that Orz I need to read the hp books 3d
wanderinglynn I‘m doing it! 😀 But I also would love to be a full-time writer or open my bookstore-bar idea. 3d
wanderinglynn @UnidragonFrag I blog. But I would never say I‘m consistent. Some weeks I write 3 posts. Sometimes I‘ll go a whole month (or more) without posting. I think that‘s the great thing about a blog. 3d
UnidragonFrag @Crimson613 I fell hard into the fandom. It was bad lol people get very much into it. It's awesome 😀 I think I did a harry potter pokemon crossover 😂 (that was my other big fandom, well they both still are actually, just don't do much fanfic anymore). 3d
UnidragonFrag @wanderinglynn cool! It's always nice to have a job you enjoy! I want to eventually open a bookstore bar 😂 when I blogged, I got too obsessed over the statistics which was so masochistic of me with a newbie blog. It was discouraging. Plus, bad at self promoting. 3d
wanderinglynn Yeah, it‘s easy to get caught up in stats. I just blog to blog and don‘t really do any real promotions. It automatically posts to my Facebook page and twitter account, but that‘s it. 3d
UnidragonFrag @wanderinglynn I think mine autoposted as well. I keep thinking of starting mine up again. It still exists though there's nothing on it currently 2d
wanderinglynn Go for it! And just have fun with it. 👍🏻 2d

UnidragonFrag @kylienoele is The Way of Kings series still continuing? I'd hate to start a series that is never going to be completed. 😬 4d
kylienoele It is! Brandon Sanderson is currently writing the fourth one! He actually does a pretty good job at keeping fans updated on his progress 😄 Last week I believe he said he‘s 75% done with the fourth book in the series!! 3d

Wakulla Springs: A Tor.Com Original | Ellen Klages, Andy Duncan

I'm particular about my historical fiction. Typically, there HAS to be some fantastical element mixed in with real world facts/history.

I read this short story earlier in this year, I think, and it was so fascinating. It's multigenerational set in panhandle Florida and has movie lore, period realistic issues, and I can forgive Klages that the fantastical element is SO minor as this is really well written!

@ljuliel #KeepLitsyActive #History

The Mermaids Singing | Val McDermid
post image

Looking through the #booked2020 prompts having to google some things. Didn't know what tartan noir was, but found this interesting article about it with some suggestions:
https://crimereads.com/val-mcdermid-on-the-remarkable-rise-of-tartan-noir/

Have you read any Scottish crime fiction you'd wanna suggest?

Andrew65 I love Scottish Crome Fiction. Rebus Series by Ian Rankin, Shetlands Series by Ann Cleeves, The Lewis Trilogy by Peter May, Tony Maclean Series by James Oswald, DCI Daley Series by Denzil Meyrick (edited) 5d
Susanita Great article! In addition to the works and authors mentioned, there‘s Peter May‘s Hebrides series. I loved it! Also Ann Cleeves who wrote the Shetland series, which I haven‘t read yet but I‘ve been watching the show. 5d
Susanita I see @Andrew65 beat me to the punch and gave me more to add to TBR! 5d
See All 29 Comments
Laughterhp Thanks for posting this! I didn‘t know what Tartan Noir was either! If it counts, I‘ll probably read a book from this series. 5d
Andrew65 @Laughterhp This looks good! 5d
Andrew65 @Susanita Oh you have a treat in front of you, I loved the Shetlands books, just a shame there were only eight of them. Jimmy Perez is a great character. 5d
Mandoul Lots of good suggestions by @Andrew65 i would also add Stuart Macbride's Logan McRae series, which are set in the north of Scotland 5d
Andrew65 @Mandoul How did I forget them, although only half way through that series. 5d
Crazeedi So many more authors for me to check out! @Andrew65 5d
UnidragonFrag @Andrew65 thanks for all the suggestions! Definitely have some stuff to look into now! 5d
UnidragonFrag @Laughterhp you're welcome! Figured I couldn't be the only one lol 5d
UnidragonFrag @Mandoul thanks for the suggestion! @susanita I don't think I've seen that show.. maybe I'll see if I can find it! @Crazeedi same! 5d
Andrew65 @UnidragonFrag I also love Val McDermid‘s Tony Hill / Carol Jordan Series, in fact would make my top 10. Although didn‘t put this as although written by a Scottish Author the books are set in the North of England. (edited) 5d
Andrew65 @Crazeedi You Know me, always plenty of suggestions! 😂 5d
Crazeedi @Andrew65 👍😉❤ 5d
UnidragonFrag @Andrew65 oh! That's what I've tagged for this post as I've heard it was good, but I guess I can't use it! 😅 5d
Andrew65 @UnidragonFrag That depends , Wikipedia describes ‘Tartan Noir as a form of crime fiction particular to Scotland and Scottish writers. It has its roots in Scottish literature but borrows elements from elsewhere, including from the work of American crime writers of the second half of the twentieth century, especially of the hard-boiled genre, and of European authors.‘ Tony Hilll/ Carol Jordan Series is written by a Scottish Author so possibly👇 (edited) 5d
Andrew65 Counts. I think I would count it if I was you. Book 2 in that series is on of my favourite all time books. 5d
UnidragonFrag @Andrew65 maybe I'll use it but I think I'd rather use one set in Scotland to make it all well rounded, I guess? 5d
Andrew65 I would recommend the first book of the Rebus Series 5d
Andrew65 Or first book in the Shetlands Series 5d
Andrew65 Or first book in the Lewis Trilogy 5d
UnidragonFrag @Andrew65 lol thanks! 5d
Andrew65 @UnidragonFrag I used to be decisive but now I‘m not so sure. 5d
UnidragonFrag @Andrew65 I think, after looking at the 3, I'm leaning towards the Rebus series. But we'll see what I find at the library. They all sound good 😂 5d
Andrew65 @UnidragonFrag I love the writing of the Rebus series and Rebus is a great character. 4d
Susanita Shetland is available in the US on PBS and something called Britbox. A streaming service I think? Maybe Netflix as well. I‘m halfway through season 4 on PBS. I think I know who did it, but I could be completely wrong! 2d
UnidragonFrag @Susanita cool, thanks! 2d

A Monster Calls | Patrick Ness, Siobhan Dowd
post image

This book is so lovely. Any time people ask for recommendations, this is usually one of the first ones I suggest. Not only is it aesthetically just so pleasing, it is one of very few books that have made me cry. I definitely read this at a time where it hit me a lot harder though. What's a book that made you cry?

#KeepLitsyActive @ljuliel

ljuliel Great post. I‘ve heard lots of people mention how much they liked this book. 5d
UnidragonFrag @ljuliel thanks! Yeah, it's really such a sad, sweet story and can be read in an afternoon. Also just led me to Patrick Ness, who is now one of my fave authors. 5d
LibrarianRyan Along a similar story line have you read I Kill giants? It's a graphic novel but was also made into a movie and it is soooo good. 5d
See All 10 Comments
Addison_Reads I love Patrick Ness. The Knife of Never Letting Go is one of my favourite reads. 5d
UnidragonFrag @LibrarianRyan yes! It is a similar sorta story and honestly the movie adaptation for it and A Monster Calls were done pretty well, I think! 5d
UnidragonFrag @Addison_Reads that series is so good! I'm very nervous for the movie. 😬 5d
Addison_Reads @UnidragonFrag There's going to be a movie? I had no idea. I'll watch it, but that's going to be a tough adaptation to get the same feel of the noise on screen as in the books. 5d
UnidragonFrag @Addison_Reads yeah, I agree! I'll probably wait for some more previews to decide if I want to wait to redbox it or not. It's supposed to be coming out sometime next year. 5d

1. Finding new books to read - how much I've branched out since joining. Also, since joining I've learned to let crap books go. Bail has changed my reading life.
2. For whatever reason, I find it annoying when authors post about their books on here 🤷‍♀️
3. I'd really like some way to just look through top hashtags.. would be useful to see what sorta fun stuff I might be missing lol
4. Try to daily.

UnidragonFrag 6. More interaction, probably. I know I'm not the best at commenting... and the likes are nice, but they're just kinda like a tap and move on thing. It also just feels obligatory at this point? Idk. 6d
StillLookingForCarmenSanDiego I could be wrong, but I think on the computer version of Litsy it shows what hashtags are trending. I've only looked at it once, as I usually use my phone, but I think I remember seeing that. 6d
See All 44 Comments
LibrarianRyan If you on on the desk top there is a top # section on the right side of the screen. right now #24beforemonday and #scareathlon are trending. 6d
gradcat Love your number 3. I no longer use a computer, so I don‘t really use the web app. ♥️ 6d
Sace I'm working on 6. I try to comment as much as I can. 6d
ljuliel Thanks very kindly 💕 6d
Sace @LibrarianRyan trending hashtags is way too Twitter, Insta anonymous mindless social media to me (I am a curmudgeon) and I try to ignore them. 6d
ljuliel @Sace. You‘re in either good or bad company , depending on how you look at it. I‘m a curmudgeon too. Old and grumpy and I don‘t get dome of this newfangled stuff. And I don‘t want to learn. 🤨 (edited) 6d
Sace @ljuliel and honestly I see a lot of what I perceive as self-promotion and other questionable behavior that I have my own baggage about so I try to avoid it and not rain on any parades. 6d
UnidragonFrag @StillLookingForCarmenSanDiego maybe? I only ever use the app. I've also heard that the apple version has a way to sort notifications, which android doesn't have (yet?) And that would be helpful too for me as I miss comments a lot between the likes 🤷‍♀️ really, just wish everything was consistent not matter how you access Litsy. 5d
UnidragonFrag @LibrarianRyan #Scarathlon it still trending? Huh! @gradcat yeah, my computer is almost exclusively for writing and playing sims, so I sorta just avoid anything I can just do on my phone. Also, phones are easier to use when you've got a grabby 11-mnth-old lol 5d
StillLookingForCarmenSanDiego Yes, consistancy between devices would be ideal! 5d
UnidragonFrag @Sace I feel you about the social media rat race thing, but Litsy has never really felt like that so the tags I think just keep things in order? The problem is, the more people you follow the more things get lost in the feed and I don't really feel like scrolling for hours to find a thing. 🤷‍♀️ 5d
UnidragonFrag @ljuliel no problem! I'm young and grumpy, and sometimes I don't get some of this new stuff (it changes so fast) but learning keeps the minds active, so 🤷‍♀️ 5d
LibrarianRyan @UnidragonFrag because of WinterGames. It will be like Screamathon so yes, people are still tagging it. Plus we do have a few late All Hallows Read Swaps. 5d
UnidragonFrag @LibrarianRyan 😂 I'm getting that now as I literally just did that posting about #wintergames 5d
BookwormAHN @UnidragonFrag I also wish android could separate notifications 😺 5d
LibrarianRyan @Sace @Ljuliel I can always tell when someone is new and trying to run a rat race and jump their litfluence to be seen or become important. I love that Litsy makes that a bit hard to do. It's kind of like celebrating a six-digit number. It is hard to get there. I don't care about my litfluence, but when I started out I did a bit. It was a rush. The first 30K were easy. Making it to that 6 digits was one surprising, and hard. 7D for @MrBook 5d
Sace @LibrarianRyan I don't see it from just new people either. There are a few users and events I feel were oversaturating my feed so I did a lot of weeding. I need to do more. I did one litfluence giveaway but I'm at the point now I wish it was gone or at least that there was an option not to see it or anyone else's. 5d
LibrarianRyan @Sace I won‘t lie, I was tired of screamathon and all the movie postings. I say that and am a team captain for winter games. I am looking forward to it. But I going to try and keep my other than book posts few. Or tell everyone who don‘t want to see it to mute my teams tag and I‘m going with something pretty unique so it will only mute winter games from my team. 5d
Sace @LibrarianRyan Maybe if it were easier to mute hashtags from the app it might make things easier for people? What gets my goat is how many very similar activities were happening all at the same time and since I know there was an issue once before a year or more ago I always give the similar hashtags a side eye and try to avoid either. I don't know which was the original so I won't participate in either! Yup. I'm a jerk. 5d
LibrarianRyan @Sace it‘s not a jerk at all. It‘s what you don‘t like and you don‘t need to apologize for it. 5d
twohectobooks @Sace @LibrarianRyan muting hashtags on the app would be a game changer. I exclusively use litsy on my phone and while I could certainly keep a list of hashtags to mute next time I use my desktop, that‘s a level of inconvenience that will drive many users away. People expect way more app functionality nowadays. 5d
UnidragonFrag @LibrarianRyan sometimes, with some of the events, I think people are just in it for the points... not just newbies, either. I couldn't ever figure out how to wrack up the points when I first started, but then I hung around enough so stopped caring lol I participated in Scarathlon and definitely was getting tired of the posts, especially movies, toward the end. 5d
UnidragonFrag @Sace what sorta issue? I'm trying to think... there's usually not any drama on here and I don't really remember anything from last year? But I did get ya. With those similar hashtags. Works be nice to have a way to mute. Not sure how that could work. 5d
LibrarianRyan @UnidragonFrag there was some swap drama but it‘s usually the same 2 or 3 people. 5d
UnidragonFrag @twohectobooks yeah, people definitely do expect more functionality... litsy is still pretty small though and their team may be working on these things, but I can't imagine it's a quick process. Bringing in more people to work/ use might help? But then... would they start ads to keep up? That would suck. And the more popular it gets, more spam which is almost nonexistent now. So idk. 5d
UnidragonFrag @LibrarianRyan Ah, I haven't done one in a while. Not since my last swap never posted anything about recieving my box. She confirmed with the host she got it, but nothing on here. It was a bummer as I thought it was nice, but maybe she didn't like it? Idk. Rubbed me the wrong way and haven't really felt the desire to participate in one again. I like seeing what everyone else got though. 5d
LibrarianRyan @UnidragonFrag I won‘t lie I‘m a little burnt out. I love doing them but hosting ughh. I love it when it goes well but I had some flakes and other issues, so I‘m breaking for a bit. Plus I have some fun winter stuff coming up and am a team captain for winter games. 5d
UnidragonFrag @LibrarianRyan dude, I can only imagine how stressful it's gotta be hosting swaps. That's too much for me! I don't have the patience for silliness some people pull on those. Good luck with the team captain thing! 5d
Sace @UnidragonFrag maybe it's just something that rubbed me (and only me) the wrong way, but someone planned an event that to me looked like a straight up copy of an already well-established event and even used the copyrighted image. Names were changed and the image was removed, but I've never forgotten it. For all I know the originals have given their blessing to the copycat event because I swear it's on my feed every other frigging week. 5d
LibrarianRyan @Sace oh yeahhhhh. That was crazy! Yep yep yep. 5d
UnidragonFrag @Sace oh! I think I know what you're talking about! And yeah, it's like a monthly thing now and definitely isn't the original.. no idea if there's been any blessings given. You'd think copyright would be something readers at least understand? Idk. 5d
Sace @UnidragonFrag a-yup. Hence my annoyance. 5d
TheReadingMermaid Wow. I sure hope the person that you're talking about doesn't see this conversation on this very public forum. It might hurt somebody's feelings. 3d
gradcat I‘m a big one for an iPad, but I do love my iPhone...it‘s just so small! @UnidragonFrag 😂 3d
gradcat @TheReadingMermaid Tamara, I don‘t think I say it enough, but I‘m SOOO glad you‘re here. You always bring a dose of thought(-fulness) ... I‘m so ignorant on here that I‘m not even sure what everyone is referring to here, I just hope I‘m not the one who did it. But no matter—I‘m very much an old, fat curmudgeon, but my goal for this later stage of my life is to try to be kind. I was not very good at it when I was younger! Thank you for your wisdom. 3d
UnidragonFrag @gradcat I don't do any apple products, but so often it seems apps get updates there before android does, which is kinda frustrating lol 3d
UnidragonFrag @TheReadingMermaid I honestly don't know what was said that could hurt someone's feelings. 3d
gradcat @UnidragonFrag With apple products, it‘s often the other way around...they update the operating system & then the apps can‘t keep up...not sure which is worse! 🤷🏽‍♀️ 😂 2d
UnidragonFrag @gradcat oh! That would suck! 2d

You can see my bb reflected lol .. but this was a good movie. I felt the last story was the coolest, though I guessed it right away. The middle story was least successful, I think, but still gave us a pretty incredible death scene lol (4pts. 3 for movie, 1 for post)

😐 I dunno. These people were vapid and their conversations were often nonsensical. The ending was good, though holy moly why would you let her do that, but I was expecting more terror and more build up. As was, felt a bit sprung on me, but maybe that was just me? Does a haunted house count for the theme?

I dunno. Food and its effects can be scary. For a while, I was going to school to be a dietitian (it's still an interest, but it's much more math involved then I'd like) and it's crazy how food can be wonderful but can also just be poison. People straight up killing themselves with what they eat.

TheReadingMermaid 🧟‍♀️ 4w
UnidragonFrag @wanderinglynn that's the problem. Health is very personal. What works for one person, won't for another. That's why all those trend diets can be so dangerous. It honestly is best to go to a doctor, but generally... variety and restraint are the two biggest things for eating well. 4w
