What a delightful book about such a sweet, caring and compassionate man! Henry speaks candidly about dealing with the highs and lows of his career, being a geeky TV fan like the rest of us, and turning his struggles with dyslexia into a book series to help kids with the same challenges. So cool that his wife Stacey chimed in by narrating the chapters about her. Love this heartwarming memoir as well as his children‘s books. 🙌🏻
Finally finished my #BookishMonopoly board! 😅 I‘m not as creative as @AkashaVampie and @Jari-chan , so I used a template by #ElaineHowlin and embellished it with a bunch of bookish stickers. My first roll was 8 and I landed on #Nonfiction. 🎲 So I chose this Jim Henson book that @Beatlefan129 reminded me was on my Kindle.
Thanks for hosting and inspiring me to play, @AkashaVampie ! Now I need to learn more of the rules!
Here‘s my #BookSpin list for March…with a little more humor and some new memoirs.🤓📚
Let the games begin! 🎰
Hugs to our amazing host @TheAromaofBooks
Viola can sure rock that warrior fuel in every role she plays! A tough yet inspiring read from a fearless and empowering woman.🙌🏻
Thank you @PurpleyPumpkin for the gift of this powerful book. Looking forward to seeing your review.

Saw this book at a thrift store & couldn‘t resist the title. Then I remembered seeing Carol‘s hilarious stand-up routine in Hollywood. Who knew she‘s an Emmy nominated writer for such shows as Seinfeld, SNL, Modern Family & Hacks. She‘s even writing for the Oscars show next month. Great pix and inside stories about the comedy biz along with fun tips for job seekers in any field. A funny & nostalgic read!

Here‘s another wild adventure by the creative and oh-so-cool children‘s author Kate DiCamillo. 🙌🏻 You‘ll meet a comic-book obsessed young girl, her wacky romance novelist mom, several eccentric and philosophical neighbors and a lovable poetic rodent! There‘s also a sprinkling of graphic novel pages for even more fun. A 2014 Newbery Medal winner and a gem of a read!

It‘s time for our February #BookSpin already?
How did that happen? 😳
Happy Feb and Happy Reading, everyone! 🤗
@TheAromaofBooks
Such a heartwarming book, even if I did sob thru those last chapters. Loved reading from the cat‘s perspective, taking an enlightening road trip along breathtaking sites in Japan & picturing Nana almost exactly as this movie poster. Made me cherish my friendships, especially those that have survived decades. Didn‘t realize Hiro Arikawa also authored the Library Wars series, which I‘m about to start.

What a delightful read! Love Margery‘s wit(and her curls!)Thanks @TheBookHippie for this great choice to kick off #ChildrensClassicRead2024
My favorite part: When a bored Miss Bianca was in search of something to read: “The Head Jailer was practically illiterate, there was nothing to be borrowed from his shelves save one dog-eared pamphlet entitled Cut Your Own Corns, which Miss Bianca would have sooner died — O ominous phrase! — than look at.”😆
Call me crazy, but I love these Archie mash-up graphic novels. This time a portal between worlds opens up, leaving several GLEE members in the Archie Universe and vice-versa. The plot is ridiculously funny as Veronica gets slusheed, Coach Sue Sylvester faces off with Jughead, Archie falls for Rachel, and Rachel just wants to be the star of the show in any Universe. Great fun for any Archie fan and Gleek like me.🤓

Look what I just found in my mailbox. Wow! Thanks so much, Kimberly! Viola‘s memoir has been in my radar since I first heard about it. Now I can finally crack it open! I‘m doubly convinced I am meant to read more books about octopuses! And Craig & I will read the first Newlywed question tonight.🤭 Love the affirmations cards, coolest positive thoughts calendar and bookish goodies too. What a fun way to start the New Year! 🤗❤️
@PurpleyPumpkin
Had to squeeze in my last book of the year…and what a thrilling memoir by the Legendary Broadway actress, singer & dancer! Now at 90, Chita shares such wonderful stories about her early days onstage working with all the greats: Fosse, Kander & Ebb, Gwen Verdon, Sammy Davis Jr., Liza Minnelli, Shirley MacLaine & more! A must read for any theater buff! So happy I got to see Chita twice onstage in Chicago in ‘75 & The Rink in ‘85.

If you‘re any kind of a fan of Barbra‘s, this 48-hr audiobook will breeze by, especially with film clips and song snippets! And why not as Barbra chats with you about everything…her career, favorite foods, struggles with a male-dominated film industry and finding her true love—the dashing James Brolin. So honest, inspiring and powerful!
Would love to hear your Barbra stories. I got to see her onstage in 1968 at the International Hotel in Vegas.
Thanks so much Catie for your wonderful surprise Christmas package. 🤗🎁 Woo hoo! Now I have a very cool memoir to start my New Year! Gotta say the hilarious vintage ornament now has a very prominent place on our brand new tree! Love it!🙌🏻📼 You are the best, dearest friend! Holiday hugs to you! 😘🎄

Couldn‘t wait to read this first-ever authorized bio on this fearless icon. Author Brower had exclusive access to Elizabeth‘s unpublished personal letters, diary entrees & off-the-record interviews with family & friends. It‘s the real story beyond all the marriages, scandals & Hollywood glitz. When Elizabeth took on the fight against AIDS while almost everyone else turned their backs, she truly changed the world. What an inspiration! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Hello dear Litsy friends! I‘m baaaack and I‘ve missed you all! Took time off to hang out with this wonderful guy…we got married, honeymooned at a beautiful lake resort, and then got crazy busy taking care of moms and getting back to reality. I‘m waaaay behind on my #LitsyLove mail but my pen is now in hand. I even managed to read these cool classics and memoirs. And yes, my sweet new husband fully supports my book obsession! Hugs to all!🤗
How can a Jersey Italian gombah like me NOT love this hilarious book and its colorful author! 💜 Thank you paisan Terri-Lynne for creating such funny and relatable characters like 70-yr-old sensible yet somewhat venturous Varina and her wise 92-yr-old mother Sylvia who reminded me of my own crazy famiglia. And…for reintroducing all that Jersey Italian slang back into my vocabulary. 🤭

Just happened to find this audiobook on sale and so glad I did! I learned so much about Toni‘s illustrious singing career. I‘d also forgotten that she had her own talk show as well as a variety TV show with the ever-quirky Captain. She even toured as the headliner in Victor/Victoria! A fascinating memoir by such an amazing, inspiring and resilient woman. Extra treat: The funniest trivia about their strangest hit: “Muskrat Love”😁
#LitsyLoveReads
Really enjoyed this classic, especially how the animals communicate with each other. And how cool that author Dodie Smith was such a devout dog lover, she even owned up to 9 Dalmatians herself. (Or did they really own her!) 😉 What fun watching all the movies, which I‘ve never seen. Glenn Close nails Cruella, and the latest version with my 2 favorite Emmas is sooo good too. Gotta read Dodie‘s bio next!

What a fun and inspiring book co-written by this coolest power couple to help celebrate their 40th anniversary. Plenty of candid interviews, memorable stories & heartfelt moments. The perfect book to read while planning your own wedding! 😉 As Marlo and Phil learned: “There is no one secret to a lasting marriage. There are a million secrets. So keep looking for them. Because the longer you look, the more reasons you‘ll discover to stay in it.”💞🥂
Gotta love a rom-com centered around sarcastic editors, eccentric authors, cool siblings and a funky bookstore—written by someone who really loves those Hallmark movies. What fun!
Thanks for this perfect gift @Sleepswithbooks ! I was hoping to finish this in time to wish you a Happy National Friendship Day! 🤗❤️

Richard Lederer is a local San Diego author who‘s written many wonderful books on language, history and humor. I‘ve heard him speak several times and he‘s a hoot! I read his latest book here with my Mom, and we couldn‘t stop laughing. A great gift for any “seasoned” readers like us. 🤭👵🏻

Lorna is my go-to for plenty of laughs & quirky characters and this book is her best yet! A group of churchy ladies need more than their usual recipe book to raise funds for their faltering All Souls parish. But when their new idea is the ABCs of Erotica, all hell breaks loose!😂 This is the first time I listened to Lorna‘s narration, and how she came up with distinct voices for each of the many characters blew me away! Simply brilliant! 🥰🙌🏻
A great reminder from my #PositivelyPresent Daily Calendar

What a funny and moving memoir filled with such beautiful stories and memories about the friendship between these two trailblazing country music icons! Loretta Lynn and Patsy Cline only knew each other for 2 short years, but theirs was a forever friendship that changed both of their careers & lives. Delightful read! I had no idea author Shel Silverstein wrote several top hits for Loretta, Johnny Cash and many more.

Hello Beautiful Bookish Friends! Here‘s my new #BookSpin list for June. Just a potpourri of books that I‘d love to finally read.
Happy Reading to all! 🤓📚

Call me a sap for neatly spun happy endings, but I‘m marking this a pick. Ben and Sancho were thoroughly entertaining as well as the more spectacular(vs. darker)elements of the circus. Loved Bab showing up the boys with her archery skills and Betty stepping out of her shell to rescue Sancho. It definitely had some cringy moments, but that‘s a given for a 150-year-old classic. Alcott still rules in my book!

#MitchAlbom books always touch my heart! This one also has a strong “Tuesdays with Morrie” vibe. It‘s about two men of the cloth whose unique life journeys help Mitch revive his faltering faith, and get us readers to reflect on our own lives and priorities. Thrilled to hear Mitch is releasing a new novel with a Holocaust theme in November, which he says is the most important story he‘s ever written.

Just finished this vintage memoir by Patti Page, top-charting female vocalist in the 50s. She sold 100 million records in 6 decades & had over 80 top singles. That means you heard at least one of her songs!😉(Tennessee Waltz? Doggie in the Window?) My parents were huge fans & took us kids to many of her concerts & Vegas shows. We were thrilled to meet her in person in 1990. She was truly a class act and a beautiful soul!

Loved listening to Sir Michael Caine (now 90!) share stories about his early career, slew of movies (160!) and 50-year marriage to Shakira. It was love at first sight when he saw her in a 1970s Maxwell House TV commercial! Can you believe Michael “purposely” skipped several chapters on this audio version so the listener would buy the book and get the whole story? 😳 That‘s a first for me! Maybe an 80s marketing gimmick?

I feel a special bond with author Farley since we both had uncles who passed their love of horses onto us. My Uncle Ninny(b&w pic)taught me how to ride when I was a kid & always laughed when I‘d have conversations with his horses! Farley received so much mail, he set up The Black Stallion Club to connect with his young fans. How cool is that! Here‘s a vintage button(eBay photo)that Farley designed in 1949.

It was an emotionally charged month immersed in this moving novel along with journals & letters by one of my fave authors. Steinbeck certainly succeeded in his goal to “rip a reader‘s nerves to rags” and deeply experience the life of a Dust Bowl migrant…from the brutal oppression to the enduring human spirit and everything in between. It‘s no wonder JS collapsed from exhaustion after finishing it. Now to watch the film!

Fascinating read about how the octopus—usually portrayed as a menacing and monstrous creature, really has a unique personality, curious nature and perhaps an even deeper connection with us than we realize. And now I know that the plural of octopus is NOT octopi! 😆

Cool rock memoir by another fearless women who smashed barriers in the music world. Grace Slick was a top female vocalist in the psychedelic 60s. She wrote White Rabbit as a rant against hypocritical parents who read drug-laced books(like Alice in Wonderland)to their kids! Hard to believe her album with Jefferson Airplane(now Starship) debuted 56 years ago.😳 Now 83, Grace is an artist(that‘s her Janis Joplin portrait) & only sings in her car.😉
Taylor Jenkins Reid is obsessed (like me!) with old Hollywood, all its glitter & scandal and all those steadfast, ballsy, enigmatic, fearless female movie icons like Ava Gardner who inspire us to speak our truth. This was like reading another juicy and riveting Hollywood memoir—only 100 times better!

How could I resist reading the unfiltered diaries of the amazing Dame Joan Collins! Loved all the juicy Hollywood gossip, name-dropping & scathing behind the scenes drama, especially on Legends, a play I saw with Joan & Linda Evans.Thrilled to land this signed & numbered limited US edition. And had to include this photo of the biggest Dynasty fan I know:my 93-yr-old Mom, who met Joan at a Dynasty Reunion in 2014.Mom & I are bingeing Season 4 now!
