I am still loving this book 😍.
Audiobooks all day everyday.
In books like this the author does a fantastic job of setting up the hero to be a douche canoe and not nearly enough in redeeming them afterwards.
In this book the hero tells the whole school to hate the heroine and gives them permission to make her life miserable. He tells people she is a diseased slut and not to touch her. Then he propositions her so she can scratch her slutty itches on him and spare his family. What a prince charming.
This book wasn't bad it was just long. I think we easily could have removed 200-300 pages (9-14 hours) and still have had a good story.
The relationship between Tatiana and Alexander definitely had moments that made me smile but I got kind of bored around 20 hours. How many ways can these two communicate poorly, ride the bus, and make pie? And there are two more books of similar length? Jeez.
I should probably put some effort into a to read list at some point...
It's available right now but I have to wait until the people working my house are done before I can go anywhere.
Waiting. Patiently. Because I'm an adult.
If you didn't guess by the multiple updates about the same book - this was amazing. It had me shocked, tearing up, and turning pages like mad to find out what was going to happen next. I can't wait to get my hands on the second one.
I'll probably aim for a physical book next time though. This was a little hard to read as an ebook.
About 20% through this and wondering why I didn't pick it up earlier. A lot of video games I play tell their side stories/plots in this found file/logs format but I've never read a book in this format. Kind of loving it!
Life's been hectic and I haven't had much time to sit down and read. It took me a while to warm up to this one. The main character is a bit of an ice queen to I felt no real connection with her until 75% of the way through this book.
Still it turned out to be a good book and I look forward to reading the next one 😊.
I guess I'm a sucker for art because this art was fantastic. The story was pretty good too! I haven't read anything like it. It's about a teenage fangirl of the Pantheon - a group of twelve individuals that are reincarnated gods. The Pantheon have fame and supernatural powers but they will die within two years – part of a ninety-year cycle known as the Recurrence.
❤ it! Excited to check out the next one 😄!
The good: badass female characters, diversity, bright color pallets, sex positivity, and general sassy-ness.
The bad: not much for plot, recreational drug use (I know, it makes me sound boring that this bothers me- but it does), and behind the scenes drama.
I enjoyed this and probably will read the next one. I'd say 3.5/5 stars.
I'm not surprised this one isn't in the system. I received a copy of the Bacterionomicon for Christmas. It has beautiful illustrations of both "apothecary healers" and the "lords of pestilence" along with educational profiles of the medicines and diseases. My pictures do not do it justice.
I look forward to reading more of this one ?.
We went on a #bookdate last night. We went to a bookstore and picked out books for each other. The rules are simple: 1) 30 minutes to wander. 2) $25 dollar limit. 3) Do your best to sneak so they're surprised by your pick! It was a lot of fun and we are excited to do it again.
He got me Rat Queens Volume 1 and Monstress #1. I haven't read either so I'm excited! I got him A Darker Shade of Magic and Neverwhere. He's intrigued by both. 😄!
I am prone to migraines and sometimes it makes reading (and, ya know, life) really hard. Even the day after sucks. Hopefully I'll be back to 100% soon.
I was kind of indifferent to this one. I can see the appeal of a relatively well done science fiction novel. The science was a little confusing in the beginning but eventually became the "every choice makes a new parallel universe" thing that's popular.
What got under my skin was the way the ladies in this story could have been replaced with an animal or an inanimate object and it wouldn't have affected the story much. This was a one man show.
I'm kind of in love with checking out graphic novels on my #hoopla app!
This book was so much more than I expected. Don't let the title throw you off like it did for me. I let this one sit off to the side for months.
This is the tale of Dolssa, a noble French woman from the time shortly after the crusades, who was falsely convicted of heresy. It's the tale of the three independent sisters making their way in the same time and country. It is definitely worth your time. The audiobook narrators were really good too!
