Didn‘t read this in high school (though I was supposed to for a grade, but lied and said I did). Now, having read it during the Trumpian era in American history, I feel as though I‘m slightly closer to understanding the mentality of his supporters and administration.

FREEDOM IS SLAVERY
IGNORANCE IS STRENGTH

I think the hardest part of reading about your heroes is having to relive/experience their misfortune as well. Mistakes, choices, forced situations, etc. It‘s always nice at the end though...or at least better than it started. For some reason I always put people on a pedestal, Craig was no exception, so reading this made him seem a whole lot more human and real.

I feel, as the midwestern simpleton I am, that while this is a great piece of classic literature, I didn‘t fully enjoy this as well as I probably should have. I find the premise of the story great, and the dialogue wonderfully pithy. But, once is enough when contemplating reading this book.
