I think the hardest part of reading about your heroes is having to relive/experience their misfortune as well. Mistakes, choices, forced situations, etc. It‘s always nice at the end though...or at least better than it started. For some reason I always put people on a pedestal, Craig was no exception, so reading this made him seem a whole lot more human and real.
November 2018 wrap-up, part 2. American on Purpose, the audiobook, was my pick of the month. I have a theme of Scottish actors reading audiobooks -- in October my favourite book of the month was Sputnik's Guide to Life on Earth, by Frank Cottrell Boyce, read by Peter Capaldi.
5⭐️ for the audio because hearing the Scottish place names (and "The Sheep Song") makes this really come to life. And of course I loved the Dreamboys chapters ♥️♥️ This is an audiobook I can see myself re-reading.
EEEEEEEE it's my favourite part of American on Purpose: the part featuring Peter Capaldi and Dreamboys 😍😍😍😍 Craig is on drums.
Also I'd forgotten about Peter and Craig's White Christmas-inspired drag act 😍😍😍😍♥️♥️♥️♥️
"You haven't heard 'Anarchy in the UK' butchered until you've heard it with a clarinet solo." ?
American on Purpose is an honest and humourous memoir by Craig Ferguson, including some candid chapters about his alcoholism.
There are also a couple of chapters about Peter Capaldi and the band he and Craig were in together, Dreamboys, which was actually my main reason for reading 😳😁♥️♥️

I enjoy late-night comedians and talk shows as much as the next guy, but we're still a long way off from seeing a host of Ferguson's calibre again.
A sobering look at someone who was truly lost, and was able to pull himself up by the bootstraps. A distinctively American story.
Birthday night with football, popcorn, and a book.
Almost all of the #memorablememoirs I've read have come from the library... and these two are the only ones I own. I've had the Chaplin book since the 90's. The Ferguson book was a gift from a friend cause she knows I love all things Scottish (especially funny dudes). #booktober
Divorce lawyers stoke anger and fear in their clients, knowing that as long as the conflicts remain unresolved the revenue stream will keep flowing.
Do yourself a favor and listen to the audio version. It's highly entertaining already, but a Scottish accent reading it to you just adds that little extra happiness.
#signedsundays this is from an in-person book signing in Denver. we also saw his standup act and that was good but I liked his talk at the bookstore better! i would recommend the audiobook as he has a lovely Scottish accent 💕
