I have read the bock in German. It was a nice read, how ever I found that the story telling is a bot confusing / leaving the reader as much in the dark about the real happenings as the protagonist. Just a thing of personal taste though I guess.

I read the German version of the book. I won't lie, the story was somewhat enjoyable... but in the end I felt that it doesn't get into too much detail of the protagonists lives... the chaptets jump in between the characters and times a lot. I personally was confused most times after those jumps. If you read along, you'll enevntually find out what happened in between. But it is not my favorite way of managing time gaps in novels.
So sometimes....one just needs to read something for uni XD
First things first: I read the German translation and not the original.
In the very beginning I wasn't really sure whether I should read the whole book. The first few pages just didn't speak to me. Still I kept going and as the storyline slowly began to show I was hooked and drawn into Firmin's world. It is a beautiful book with kind of a sad ending but still: highly recommended!
My first mystery novel ever.... and I am in love!!!! Why didn't I ever start reading this book?! Anyway, a nice smooth mystery story, which end can't be detected easily during the read.
