I was stuck between a so-so and a pick for about half of the book. The last 70 or so pages, though.... wow! What a wild ride. The greatest last sentence I've read in years!

Dexter meets Gone Girl. A unique thriller that is quick paced with a brilliant twist.

Memoir of the year. Hands down.

I had no idea who Fern Brady was, but I fell in love with her honesty & bravery during this. I've never read a book where I laughed, cringed, & teared up in equal measures. It was devastating to see the treatment she received as a child & young adult without her autism diagnosis. I'm so pleased she fought for her diagnosis & has become a badass role model for those on the spectrum. 11/10 ⭐️

In my top 3 of 2023. 👏

I wanted to love this. I adore Emily Henry, but this lacked her charm. It seemed to take me ages to get through, as I wasn't looking forward to reading it much.
The characters were quite bland, and the love interest was such a bore. I didn't care much for the dual timeline, and I found it completely predictable.
However, EH is a wonderful writer. Her way with words is beautiful.

As a mother to an autistic child and being Neurodiverse myself, I felt it was important to read this.
Sara is great. She's warm, impulsive, hilarious, emotional, and honest. I love that she has embraced her diagnosis.
I think this is an important book in this day and age. I hope autism becomes more understood. I long for the day that the world adapts for my daughter, rather than her adapting for the world. 🖤

I'm quite disappointed with this one. I loved The Love Hypothesis, but this didn't deliver the charm.
I found Bee incredibly irritating. The amount of times she mentions Marie Curie annoyed me but nowhere near as much as how she rambled on about veganism and every food was "vegan *insert any food item ever here*" we get it. Bore off.

I absolutely devoured this! ?

A unique romcom where a matchmaking company uses DNA to find customers' "soulmate" with surprising results.

I really enjoyed the STEM theme of the science behind the matchmaking and the statistics. But, the highlight of the story was the relationship Jess had with her daughter, Juno.

Wonderfully unique, heartwarming, witty, and emotional. Perfect.

I loved the concept, and I liked the imperfections of the main character. However... CoHo, FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, please stop narratives from a teenage boys POV! I've never cringed so hard at a book. Everything about it was a cringe-fest.
The main character being called "Bree Cheese" ?
The "cheat sheet" ?
Just everything ?

I am friends with lots of guys, and I can hand on heart say that no men would sit around a whiteboard and plan how a guy can get a girl with suggestions such as "Hold hands" or "Touch her arm while talking". That's what teenage girls do, not a football team ?
Just terrible.

So, I owe Paris an apology.
Whenever I saw photos of her or heard her name, I'd roll my eyes and think, "famous for nothing." Now, when I see photos or hear her name, I'll think, "Trauma survivor. ADHD Warrior. Business Woman. Children's Rights Advocate. Rebel. Feminist. Icon. Badass."
If you read one memoir this year, make it this one. It's important.
I now have the utmost respect for this woman. She is brave. She is resilient. She is fantastic.

Sleepswithbooks I had zero interest in this book until I read what you wrote. Now I‘m intrigued….. thank you 😊 2mo
jamield1993 @Sleepswithbooks I had my doubts. But it has been the biggest book surprise for me this year. Brilliant! 2mo
CuriousG I've seen multiple people expressing this same opinion after giving this memoir a chance. I hope word truly spreads so that people can learn more about her as a person, instead of a flat pop culture image. We make so many judgments about people without having any backstory - it's only natural, but not a great way to understand others. I'm truly looking forward to reading this. 2mo
SassyPants617 I felt exactly the way you did about her. I am now on chapter 7 of this book and I‘ve completely changed my mind. And I‘m not even halfway done. I‘m really glad I picked this up. 2mo

This is everything.
Both myself and my daughter are diagnosed with ADHD. My daughter also has autism. I have lost count of the number of times people have said we "suffer with ADHD." Or that my daughter "suffers from autism"
Let me tell you, we do not suffer, we're not ill. This is the way our brains work, and it makes us the people we are. But ADHD or Autism is NOT an identity.

AkashaVampie I never thought about that and I am sorry for thinking that way. I don't know if i can say something like that for me (dysthymia - chronic depression). But it does make total sense. 2mo
jamield1993 @AkashaVampie being neurodiverse to us is "normal." That's how we were born and how our brain works. At times, our ND brains are wonderful. I think people with autism have it more difficult as my daughters teachers, our family, etc, all use her autism as a way to describe her. And every time, I hit the roof. Autism doesn't define her. It's something she lives with, and we have to make adaptations, but it doesn't define who she is ? 2mo

jamield1993 @Oryx Cillian Murphy was amazing in Oppenheimer! I was so excited to see the film, and Barbie was one I was a little "meh" to see. I went to watch it last night and I was blown away by how good and how funny it was. Gosling was just incredible. I may get a "I am KENough" t-shirt and wear it all the time ? 2mo
kelli7990 I saw Oppenheimer on Sunday with my stepmom, my brother and my sister in law. They liked the movie but I thought it was okay. I didn‘t understand anything that was going on in the movie even though my brother explained the plot of the movie to me before we started watching it. I still want to see Barbie. I think I would like Barbie more because I played with Barbie dolls when I was a little girl. 2mo
BarbaraBB I haven‘t seen Barbie but was very impressed by Oppenheimer although it was too long and too much dialogue indeed. I am still thinking about it though 2mo
jamield1993 @kelli7990 @BarbaraBB I'm pleased that it wasn't just us that found Oppenheimer so dialogue heavy. It was very good, and we enjoyed it, but it was like wading through treacle in parts.
