Cannery Row | John Steinbeck

My 11th grade English teacher always picked the greatest books to read. Cannery Row was on the roster. Re-reading it now and falling in love. I think that class was one of the reasons I decided to study literature. "Cannery Row...is a poem, a stink, a grating noise, a quality of light, a dream."

Pickpick

An important read on race--how we talk about it, use it to assign identity, and the repercussions that has on the individual and society as a whole.

The Conversations | Csar Aira

Pickpick

Aira's brief adventures in the absurd and penchant for the philosophical make for a fascinating novel and entertaining read. Great translation by Katherine Silver. "Everything is made of words, and the words had done their job."
