Mehso-so

The setting was interesting, but I found most of the characters to be annoying. Too many grand passions, too few choices made with thought or care. Romance novel in a sci fi setting.

An Earthly Crown | Kate Elliott

A historical romance pretending to be a science fiction story.

Another in the Gaslight Mystery series. Frank and Sarah Malloy enter the world of 1890s women's colleges to solve a murder. I figured out whodunnit about halfway through the story, but it was still an enjoyable read.

I rate this somewhere between Like and So-So. Sci fi, but with very few changes it could be an historical novel set on the Great Steppe in Russia. The two main characters are a bit cliched, but they did show growth, so I plan to read the sequel.

Bailedbailed

I gave up after 4 chapters. Not particularly interesting people living messed-up lives.

A good addition to the Pillars of Reality series. Mara and Allain continue to acquire allies and battle enemies as they journey to Tiae, where the collapse began. Mages, Mechanics and Commons learn to live and love together.

Book 2 in the "Fred, the Vampire Accountant" series. Fred is pleased to have become a Certified Public Parahuman Accountant, but unwelcome adventures keep getting in the way of his paperwork. Enchanted swords, a dragon, special agents, and a seemingly haunted house.

Corpies (Super Powereds Spinoff Book 1). Fun, yet thoughtful story. Redemption, the importance of relationships, the economics of being a superhero, and of course, lots of whiz-bang action. Titan returns to the Hero world after a decade of hiding from a scandal that ruined his family and career.

Pickpick

Chains of Command, the fourth book in the Frontlines series, starts several months after Angles of Attack. The story builds momentum continuously, culminating in a mission far from home that might decide the fate of humanity. Good military sci fi, with room for another book in the series.

Just finished this, having binge-read the entire Gaslight Mystery series. Great cozy mysteries set in 1890s New York City.
