Oh it was so good. Just so fun. Ending was honestly a little so-so. However, I enjoyed this classic take on a haunted motel story. Such a fun element to jump between stories as well. It absolutely is. A ghost story that had me up at night and realizing my imagination could reach concerning levels of imagery. However, that‘s what made it so much fun to read. It‘s a shame because this book was something I looked forward to reading. However, the book ran far too heavily into the realm of unbelievable and I felt myself disconnect from it. It had many holes and sadly just left me unsatisfied. I would love to give a Ruth Ware book another chance and hope to feel differently!

The best way I would describe this book is a great intro to the “murder-mystery” world. It‘s light enough to not stick with you but dark enough to prepare for other murder mysteries. A classic “everyone is miserable” atmosphere with a good mystery throughout. My few critics would be some inconsistencies in the story, but minor compared to others I‘ve read.
