Horns: A Novel | Joe Hill
Pickpick

One of my favourite books ever and certainly my favourite by Joe Hill. Great book, amazing and well written characters just like the ones his dad writes. And a whip crack of a twist at the end. Without giving anything away all I can say is you'll spend most of the book feeling one way only to have it ripped out from under you and break your heart at the end. In the best possible way.

Ex-Isle: A Novel | Peter Clines
Pickpick

As with all the EX books, so far, just a great story and an adventure. Peter Clines manages to write stories about a zombie apocalypse that are way more about people living it than the zombies themselves. Usually when I read books about zombies, and I read a lot of them, they come of being about zombies first and the people second. Like they think I'll stop reading if they don't refer to the zombies every second paragraph or so. Great book

Can't really put my finger on why I love the Sandman Slim books so much. They're just all around great stories. Funny, and adventurous. No excessive drama. And solid characters who stay the same character book after book without changing. This newest book is no different.

Ready Player One | Ernest Cline
Pickpick

So great. The only thing better than a great story with amazing underdog characters, is all that plus the nostalgia of the 80's.
Even the underdog story of triumph is reminiscent of the eighties. When they make a movie in sure they'll have a training montage in it.

I Am Ozzy | Ozzy Osbourne

Should be called "Poor Bill" the way they picked on that guy. But still one of the best and funniest autobiographies I've ever read.

Even if you don't appreciate the wild and depraved story that it is. Even if you never read anything else by Hunter. When you push away all the "fuzz" and chaos happening in the narrative, you get the amazing cadence of his language. You get how painstaking every word choice was. When he reminisces over the sixties and the lost culture, you get the greatest possible use of our wonderful language. I love this book

East of Eden | John Steinbeck
Pickpick

Amazing story which I've always thought to be about nature vs nurture. Are bad people born or made?
I have to admit that I had to force myself through huge chunks of this book. My attention span is a bit short for writers like Steinbeck for the most part. But it pays off big.
Amazing story with intimately detailed characters whose lives are realistically complex and interwoven.

High Fidelity | Nick Hornby
Pickpick

One of my top five favourite books of all time. Rob Gordon is the best friend I've never met. I saw the movie first unfortunately, but this is one of the rare books whose movie stays pretty faithful to the source.
