“Life is tough, and the sooner you learn how to cope with it the better for you.”
“Life is tough, and the sooner you learn how to cope with it the better for you.”
But until a person can say deeply and honestly, "I am what I am today because of the choices I made yesterday," that person cannot say, "I choose otherwise.
Well-written. Beautifully structured. The lion, the witch and the Wardrobe is a magical book that introduces me to a new world Narnia filled with magical wonders. I like how the author vividly describes a character, enabling me to put myself in his/her shoes.
Must-read if you want to embark on new adventures in a magical world.
“Wrong will be right, when Aslan comes in sight,
At the sound of his roar, sorrows will be no more,
When he bares his teeth, winter meets its death,
And when he shakes his mane, we shall have spring again.”
“I didn‘t want any flowers, I only wanted
to lie with my hands turned up and be utterly empty.
How free it is, you have no idea how free.”
Beautifully written. I like how the metaphors are widely used in her collections of poems. I like Tulip the most because I like how she could use colours to describe her mental state.
I will never forget the line ‘Dying is a an art‘ from Lady Lazarus - a poem about resurrection.
“Actions speak louder than words, and a smile says, ‘I like you. You make me happy. I am glad to see you.”
This book has transformed me from a socially immature person to a more socially skillful person. At first, I didn‘t know how to settle an argument and believed that winning an argument can earn my pride. This book tells me I‘m totally wrong. Winning an argument loses others‘ faces and takes away their precious self-pride.
Highly recommend if you want to polish your social skill. It‘s my life saviour.
“Everybody in the world is seeking happiness—and there is one sure way to find it. That is by controlling your thoughts. Happiness doesn't depend on outward conditions. It depends on inner conditions.”
feel kinda touched by the story.Sosuke loves Ponyo so much, no matter she‘s fish or human. It also reminds me to protect the earth since ocean is heavily polluted by our plastic waste and our poor marine creatures are entangled in such disgusting rubbish
“So Matilda‘s strong young mind continued to grow, nurtured by the voices of all those authors who had sent their books out into the world like ships on the sea. These books gave Matilda a hopeful and comforting message: You are not alone.”
sometimes, I‘m wondering if a person‘s value to a family is defined by his/her ability to work & support financialy for family members.I think we shouldn‘t do this. His/her immense love for the family is more than his/her financial contribution to family
felt so sorry for Gregor. He worked hard to earn a living for his family but his family treated him poorly.
I appreciate Matilda‘s brilliance, magic and courage. She has the power to triumph over evil like her dad who is notoriously known for selling poor quality second-hand cars and her demon-like headmistress Miss Trunchball. Despite obstacles she may face, she could scare away Miss Trunchball with her power to move chalks straight up and get them write something frightening to her.
