I never expected to be so weirdly into hawks! I mean, I'm not, but Helen Macdonald using her experience of training a goshawk as a way of coping with grief due to her father's death is so unexpectedly good! ❤

I absolutely adored this book! Jhumpa has a special way of dealing with families and how they interact with each other and in a foreign land without ever forgetting where they come from, all the good things about identity, what makes us us.
1760s london street prostitution is an unexpectedly fascinating take on women rights and how girls must always stick together. 14 year-old Mary Saunders is our heroine in distress and she is incredible, I can tell she's gonna be able to take care of herself and do whatever she pleases. Wonderful read! ~ halfway through.
Sophia is simply the best! Charming, intelligent, incredible.
reading about what happens to human cadavers since way back when is giving me lots of perspective into how we face death. also: it's hilarious and scary! i may or may not end up reconsidering my decision of some day donating my dead body to science.
I really enjoyed how the story unfolded, especially all the lush details of the human psyche. It all comes down to dominance, we are only animals, one must always prevail over the other. Good powerplay, wonderful depictment of an artistic era.
Even my super famous kitty approves my current book selection! I'm super excited to start reading this wonderful collection of short stories! First page: conjoined twins bickering, love it already!
