I read an excerpt of this online thinking it was an article & bought it immediately. A literary travel memoir that's also translated from Spanish, released by an indie publisher? This hit all the sweet spots of the type of books that I'm finding exciting right now. Can't wait to dig in.

Connie Such an awesome cover 😲 8y

I was reading this book on Oyster some months ago when the service shut down. It's not published in the UK so I waited awhile and finally got this gorgeous & pristine 1969 edition from the local library.

Brennan's style is a precursor to Sadie Stein's New York diaries – the same wandering feet, eyes and observations. Lovely of-the-moment essays of little consequence. Highly recommended.

Bought these at Alexander Book Co. in San Francisco. Currently reading The Trip to Echo Spring, which has been on my list for years. Bumped it up since reading her lovely biography-art history-memoir The Lonely City. I love her writing style and ability to weave between subjects.

I also bought Riverine by Angela Palm because it won the Graywolf Prize for Nonfiction. After Eula Biss & Leslie Jamison's wins I'll buy anything that wins that prize.

MrBook Oh my, that book just calls to me: writers, drinking (not excessively, of course), I'm in 😎👌🏻! 8y

Lovely new read. I love Teju Cole's clarity of expression & little (often self-deprecating) asides. Even the prologue has rhythm & tension & pacing in abundance. I think I'm really going to enjoy this.

The Lesser Bohemians | Eimear Mcbride

Working on a review column featuring these two at the moment. The Lesser Bohemians is one of those books that you want to race though and savour at the same time. I'm only 80 pages in but already it's clear that it's something quite remarkable.

MrBook Nice covers! 8y

I'll Sell You a Dog | Juan Pablo Villalobos

I've been digging into the Edinburgh Book Festival brochure these past few days & can't wait for tickets to go on sale!

Also received the upcoming Juan Pablo Villalobos book from & Other Stories – it's out early August & I think I'm going to love it!

I pretentiously / unironically / accidentally took Stranger on a Train to read... on the train.

And it's fantastic.
