Just what I needed--a fast, satisfying read to take my mind off The Things.

YA realism at its most honest and poetic, with perhaps the most perfect cover I've ever seen.

AliBG I'm so glad to hear this. I LOVED her short story in the Steph Perkins collection and am so hoping for this book to be awesome. Can't wait to read it! 7y
sarazarr You should probably also check out her first book, Hold Still...💗 7y

Got from library on a whim after watching Jaws at Christmas. A mix of fun 80s style commercial writing and 80s style cliches and language about gays and women and nonwhite characters that makes you realize we actually have progressed. Skimmed second half and returned to library without actually learning what happened.

Big, messy family story - my favorite kind. Could have used a family tree as in The Turner House to help me keep track, but no other complaints.

The 70s! New York! Hollywood! Theater! Streep! I flew through this look at her early career, from college to her first couple of movies.

If you like YA feelings and the 90s but not necessarily YA tropes. See also: In Zanesville

Book most recently finished before signing up for Litsy. Reminded me a tiny bit of House of Sand and Fog. Slowish-burn escalating family tragedy with difficult narrator and perfect ending.
