If you're like me, so busy with real life issues that your mind runs at a million miles an hour every single day, take a minute and pick up this series. It's got all the elements I adore -- complex family relationships, worrisome political intrigue and characters whose relationships will make you swoon, shake your fist in anger and giggle with well timed super-funny moments. It's the perfect break from real life stuff.
"...it was the library that called to me. I listened to the call and walked down the stairs and into my Gram's library. I turned on the lights and a heavy feeling came over me. What would happen to this place when Gram died? I wasn't sure, but one thing I did know was that I was not the person for the job." #bookblogger #booktuber
"We are dust and shadows," said Ty, not looking up from his book.
"Some of us are very handsome dust," Jace added, as the door flew open and Clary stuck her head in.
"Come to the library," she announced. "The tentacle is starting to dissolve."
"You drive me wild with your sexy talk," said Jace, pulling on his gear jacket." (page 71)
I had Nutella on my face and my first real love sprawled out next to me and any minute the stars were going to sink back into they sky in preparation for a new day, and for the first time in a long time, I couldn't wait for what the day would bring. #yareads #yacontemporary #summerreads
“Champagne is never a mistake.”
(Or coffee, in my case)
4 stars: It has just enough twists to keep you interested, and Charlotte and Jamie are two sleuths to add to your favorite characters lists.
That old pull, the tide drawing me back in. I kept getting caught in this current--first love, I mean. First love kept making me come back to this, to him. He still took my breath away, just being near him. I had been lying to myself the night before, thinking I was free, thinking I had let him go.
"There's this magical sense of possibility that stretches like a bridge between June and August. A sense that anything can happen."
In a word -- adorable. Chick-lit, predictable plot, and yet, I fell for the characters. This particular formula (kind of a Devil Wears Prada plot) gets me every time. Perhaps, it's because I've lived it.
I'm listening to the audiobook and thinking that there are people who love this way more than I do.
I liked the use of Native American folk tales (I've grown tired of Greco-Roman myths being used), but I didn't like the voice of the protagonist. She was passive, whiney and at times, unbelievably clueless (If things have changed in your surroundings, wouldn't you be all WTH?!?! I would.)
Five chapters into it, and I'm liking how time travel is represented.

"I'm supposed to push a loose strand of hair out of your face, then let my hand linger on your cheek, or isn't that how, like, every other kissing scene in those books you read goes?"
