Geisha: A Life | Mineko Iwasaki, Randee Brown

This is a memoir written by the ex-geisha whose life becomes the main inspiration for Memoirs of a Geisha.

Worth reading if you're a big fan of Memoirs of a Geisha or you want to know the real life of a geisha. Arthur Golden was doing his research very well, but not all of he said on the book were accurate.

Just about time before the movie comes to theatre.

It's not the best mystery Agatha Christie ever wrote. The plot twist is not as spectacular as Murder of Roger Ackroyd. But I can see why Kenneth Branagh choose this one to be adapted. Death On The Nile is full of drama and have perfect setting for a tragedy. Just like Murder On The Orient Express.

Three generations,
Three nations,
Five complicated love stories

With a castle and rose garden as a dramatic backdrop.

A beautiful tale of the geishas' world from the eyes of Nitta Sayuri.

Every character was given certain depth. The description of places was written with perfect details.

The most fascinating part of this book is the details of the geisha culture itself.

I feel bad about Nobu whom I think is the most loyal person in this story. The one who deserves happy ending the most.

Severnmeadows I‘ve been reading this (with breaks) alongside The Ginger Tree, which I love too. Different as the stories are, they‘re linked in my mind. 😊 4y
tantri_06 @Severnmeadows I just checked the blurb of The Ginger Tree. I think it's worth to try. Looks interesting. 4y

Words to describe this book:
Mathematics
Short term memories
Platonic love
Friendship

This is how you make mathematics sounds poetic. I've never know numbers and equations can be beautiful.

There's a movie adaptation, too. It's titled The Professor's Beloved Equation.
