Inferno
Inferno: A Novel | Dan Brown
In his international blockbusters The Da Vinci Code, Angels & Demons, and The Lost Symbol, Dan Brown masterfully fused history, art, codes, and symbols. In this riveting new thriller, Brown returns to his element and has crafted his highest-stakes novel to date. In the heart of Italy, Harvard professor of symbology Robert Langdon is drawn into a harrowing world centered on one of historys most enduring and mysterious literary masterpieces . . . Dantes Inferno. Against this backdrop, Langdon battles a chilling adversary and grapples with an ingenious riddle that pulls him into a landscape of classic art, secret passageways, and futuristic science. Drawing from Dantes dark epic poem, Langdon races to find answers and decide whom to trust . . . before the world is irrevocably altered.

This has been sitting in my #TBR for a very long time. I‘m glad I finally got around to reading it. I have been on a Robert Langdon kick recently. This was another solid entry in the series. At first, I didn‘t think I liked it quite as much. As I continued to read, I was drawn into the story.

I‘ve been working my way through the Robert Langdon books and while they‘re a bit formulaic and repetitive with the protagonist characterization, I love the puzzles and “let‘s save the world” excitement. I really love the art history and architecture research and I‘m constantly looking up pieces the author refers to. I especially love that I get to revisit places I‘ve been in my travels, in this book Florence and Istanbul.

Another fast-paced, puzzle-solving race through Europe (Italy and Turkey this time) with Robert Langdon as the slightly geeky, problem-busting main character. I‘ve been enthralled with the way Dan Brown has used Dante‘s The Divine Comedy around which to base this story, it‘s fascinating! Although I felt the story lost a little momentum in its mid-section, the final few chapters really pulled it back. Another great piece of work from Brown ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Such an insane story- A genius takes the problem of overpopulation and finds a solution that he‘s trying to force on the world. In the race to stop his cure for overpopulation, we follow our characters on an incredible chase, trying to solve the puzzle he has left behind before it is too late. I know some people have an odd stigma against Dan Brown, but I fall more in love with his writing with each book of his I read, this one being no exception.

carolinereadsbooks I've never understood Dan Brown hate. I thought this one was really gripping - and that ending!! 10mo
Connster I‘m about 20 pages from the end and I‘m not stopping until I‘ve finished it! So good!! 10mo

Getting some reading done before I start my day. I have a soft spot for formula reads, anyone else? #litsyAtoZ

"The darkest places in hell are reserved for those who maintain their neutrality in times of moral crisis." Hardly before a antagonist seemed so convincing, a plot so intricate, a story so engaging at the same time..but that's Dan Brown for you.
Overall, I think this is a book that can justify the attention that is demands. Highly recommended if you're interested in all things grand.

I‘m currently reading Inferno by Dan Brown. I love searching the internet for the art that is referenced in his books. This is Dante Alighieri‘s death mask. I find it incredibly creepy. Not something I‘d want in my home.

#QuotsyMay18 Day 31: #Brilliant, indeed. Parts of the setting in Inferno was in Istanbul, same place I was standing back in 2015: the Basilica Cistern. Dan Brown says: Istanbul “..has served over the centuries as the epicenter of three distinct empires – the Byzantine, the Roman, and the Ottoman. For this reason, Istanbul was arguably one of the most historically diverse locations on earth.” Grateful to have been given the Inferno tour by my host.

#AdelesMayMashUp Day 5: The Hagia Sophia which existed as far back as #AMillionYearsAgo, has transformed itself from a former Greek Orthodox patriarchal basilica (church), to an imperial mosque, and now a museum (Ayasofya Müzesi). Extraordinary fusion of Islam and Christianity. When I conducted a teacher training in Istanbul back in 2015, my brilliant host gave me the “Dan Brown Inferno” tour which he strongly recommend I read, and I did.

Part fiction, part travel magazine. The long architectural descriptions tend to interrupt the flow. I haven't read Dan Brown in awhile so I don't remember if all the Robert Langdon books are like this.

He also is super repetitive - described the "underground chamber" video and Dr. Sinskey's "long flowing silver hair" ad nauseam ?

This is a typical Dan Brown. I loved the puzzle. But I could do with less filler. He's always a bit too long winded. It's a great story nonetheless.
