Mortimer (Revised)
Mortimer (Revised) | Robert N Munsch
4 posts | 6 read
With over half a million copies in print, Mortimer is one of Robert Munsch s most popular and beloved books. Mortimer is the story ... of a little boy who won t go to sleep at night and who drives his family crazy with his rowdiness ... [It] reads as though it was written by a parent driven frantic by one of the contemporary but compulsive stages of childrearing ... [It is] of tremendous appeal to kids and parents at the same stage. Far from Munsch's best, although the concept of a kid who won't go to sleep because he loves to sing is fun. The repeition of everyone in his house coming to tell him to be quiet is fun too, but I could DEFINITELY do without the addition of the policemen coming to tell him to be quiet. No cops in my kids books please!

A friend had a baby a few weeks back and I‘m finally going to see her so I had to stop and pick up a pile of Robert Munsch books for the baby. Not only do I have the best memories of my mom reading Munsch books to me as a kid, he lives in my city. I was able to get Mortimer, my absolute fav, but I was seriously disappointed that the only version of Mud Puddle was with new illustrations.

#firstbooks

This is the first book that was gifted to my son (before he was even born). It is well loved and still a favourite. I can recite it by heart!
