4-21-24: My 10th finished book of 2024! This is a very slow book written in 1972, about a rabbi named David and his wife Miriam. When David decides he needs a break, he takes a 3 month leave of absence from his synagogue to travel to Israel with his wife and son. He becomes involved in a recent set of bombings while in Israel and befriends a foreign correspondent visiting his son. Back home, the congregation is wondering if David will return.

"He poked his head out the window and shouted at the driver of the car, 'May no harm befall you, but you are a great fool.'" Heh. Wish I was that polite when I get cut off.
