Secrets of Sir Richard Kenworthy
Secrets of Sir Richard Kenworthy | Julia Quinn
9 posts | 38 read | 3 to read
Sir Richard Kenworthy has less than a month to find a bride. He knows he can't be too picky, but when he sees Iris Smythe-Smith hiding behind her cello at her family's infamous musicale, he thinks he might have struck gold. She's the type of girl you don't notice until the second or third look, but there's something about her, something simmering under the surface, and he knows she's the one.Iris Smythe Smith is used to being underestimated. With her pale hair and quiet, sly wit she tends to blend into the background, and she likes it that way. So when Richard Kenworthy demands an introduction, she is suspicious. He flirts, he charms, he gives every impression of a man falling in love, but she can't quite believe it's all true. When his proposal of marriage turns into a compromising position that forces the issue, she can't help thinking that he's hiding something . . . even as her heart tells her to say yes."

I'd heard not to have high hopes for this fourth, and last, of the Smythe-Smith tales. But I wasn't disappointed. I yelled at the characters, especially Sir Richard Kenworthy, a lot but it was a decent book. #2-2024

I enjoyed this book, I found it quite hard to put down because I knew there was a secret I just didn‘t know what the secret was and so I had to keep reading to find it out. I wish there had been more story after the secret came out.
This was my least favourite of the Smythe-Smith quartet, however I did enjoy that it took on a different format & that there was more of the start of their marriage that you don‘t normally get in a Julia Quinn book.

Oh my god I laughed so damn hard I had an asthma attack. Had to use my emergency inhaler 4 times. I snorted to the point that my brain hurts. This kind of intense feeling is all I want from a book.

I might finish (listening on audio) but boy the "I have secrets that I won't reveal to the reader" thing is driving me NUTS. I don't even care anymore. But I do care about the heroine. But not this dumb hero.

Anacoqui I know just how you feel. Those are the moments where I skip to the end to decide if I should bother reading the rest. 8y

My Smart Bitches, Trashy Books RITA Reader Challenge review is live! I talk about disappointing reads from fave authors and what a hero can do that's actually unforgivable. Also: introverted heroines, Plot Moppets, terrible musicales, Mistaken Identity, and 'you've gotta be kidding me' plot twists.

Rereading (well, relistening) in preparation for my Rita Reader Challenge write up. The fabulous crew at Smart Bitches Trashy Books organizes guest reviews of all the Rita Reader Award finalists. It's a great way to discover new romance reads and learn about what's currently popular in the genre.
