Falconer
Falconer | John Cheever
2 posts | 6 read | 7 to read
Stunning and brutally powerful, Falconer tells the story of a man named Farragut, his crime and punishment, and his struggle to remain a man in a universe bent on beating him back into childhood. Only John Cheever could deliver these grand themes with the irony, unforced eloquence, and exhilarating humor that make Falconer such a triumphant work of the moral imagination. From the Trade Paperback edition.

I‘ve never read it. Has anyone else read it?

MariettaSG By which standard or list? 7y
MariettaSG I'm such a good reader - just read the top of your post! 😩 7y
Tamra I haven‘t, but I think now you‘ve been called. I‘m not going to look for that reason. 😂 7y

PacingTheCage Mine was Lie Down With Lions by Ken Follett. So, umm, yeah, never read it. 7y
QueenJen I've never heard of it, but it had over 1,000 pages!! 7y
RebelReader @Tamra It doesn't really sound like my kind of book, but it did win the Pulitzer so maybe I'll get a library copy sometime. 7y
RebelReader @BarbaraTheBibliophage One less for your TBR! 😂 7y
RebelReader @QueenJen I've heard Michener is a really good author. Maybe you should give it a go! Think of it as three books in one! 😜 7y
QueenJen @RebelReader I was on the way to check it out further, but got "distracted" along the way! (So many books, so little time!) ?? 7y
Susannah @RebelReader I‘ve read it, and I didn‘t like it at all. I don‘t want to deter anyone from reading any book, but I wouldn‘t give it more than 20-25 pages. If you don‘t like it by then, go on to something you think you‘ll enjoy more. 7y

Long ago when they first invented the atomic bomb people used to worry about its going off and killing everybody, but they didn't know that mankind has enough dynamite right in his guts to tear the fucking plant to pieces.
