I saw this hibiscus in a pile of greenery where we were walking today, so I seized this beauty from the trimmings. Oddly, Mexico reminds me of Thoreau, both because "Flowers were made to be seen, not overlooked," and because the Mexican-American War sparked his Civil Disobedience. Both flowers and history "...imply eyes, spectators." Maybe traveling with my husband has me thinking more politically than usual, but all the same...#resist beautifully
