3 posts | 1 read | 1 to read
Reports of a time disturbance lead the Ninth Doctor to modern-day London, where he discovers a Neanderthal Man, twenty-eight thousand years after his race became extinct. A trip back to the dawn of humanity only deepens the mystery: who are these strange humans from the far future now living in the distant past? The Doctor must learn the truth about the Osterberg experiment before history is changed forever.

We all knew my #Septembowie pick for #LifeOnMars was going to be from Doctor Who. While my most recent Who read (Fear Itself) spent some time on the red planet, and many other novels and episodes feature it, The Pyramids Of Mars has the distinction of being one of the show's best stories so it gets my vote here. @Marchpane

Marchpane The Doctor is always a fitting choice 👏 7y

Pickpick

A classic Fourth Doctor story with Sarah Jane and a bit of UNIT lore as well. The audio is read magnificently by the Fourth Doctor himself, Tom Baker.

"Mummy On The Orient Express" is one of my favourite series 8 episodes, but it is not the only time Doctor Who has featured the undead Egyptian monsters. In the excellent Fourth Doctor story "Pyramids Of Mars", the villain uses robots disguised as mummies as henchmen (robots posting as scary things happened a lot on the old show). If you're looking for a place to start with Classic Who, I'd definitely recommend that episode.
