Last Victim: A True-Life Journey Into the Mind of the Serial Killer
Last Victim: A True-Life Journey Into the Mind of the Serial Killer | Jason Moss
2 posts | 8 read | 11 to read
DEAR MR. MANSON... It started with a college course assignment, then escalated into a dangerous obsession. Eighteen-year-old honor student Jason Moss wrote to men whose body counts had made criminal history: men named Dahmer, Manson, Ramirez, and Gacy. DEAR MR. DAHMER... Posing as their ideal victim, Jason seduced them with his words. One by one they wrote him back, showering him with their madness and violent fantasies. Then the game spun out of control. John Wayne Gacy revealed all to Jason -- and invited his pen pal to visit him in prison... DEAR MR. GACY... It was an offer Jason couldn't turn down. Even if it made him... The book that has riveted the attention of the national media, this may be the most revealing look at serial killers ever recorded and the most illuminating study of the dark places of the human mind ever attempted.

I thought this book sounded so interesting. The way Jason ultimately becomes "the last victim" of John Wayne Gacy, Dahmer, Ramirez, etc. is pretty interesting. But the editing is poor. The writing is simplistic. I did not care for the author in the least. He's arrogant, homophobic, & kind of a douchebag. The scene he describes at Menard CC being left alone in Gacy's cell... First he confuses a legal visit booth & a cell. Second, I work for IDOC?

FelinesAndFelonies & I can assure you that there is absolutely no way this happened. Not the way he described it, anyhow. And he had to have visited more than once because visitors, unless they're attorneys are not permitted to visit more than one inmate a day. He also left out that Koko's brother was also on death row for the same crimes. For someone who was so close to these guys, he didn't know a whole lot about the process or the inmates. Idk. 1y
FelinesAndFelonies This one just didn't work for me. Another loser who needed to associate with killers to feel relevant. 👎🏽 1y

The Last Victim | Jason Moss
Pickpick

Really good. Mostly focused on Gacy, but got to hear interesting things about Manson, Ramirez and Dahmer too.
