Yay for a vengeance book that‘s not stuffed with rape & torture porn! This is a HUGE book, lots of characters, but they come together in a significant battle and while the story continues in the 2nd book, it doesn‘t end on a cliff hanger.
A queen in hidden retirement seeks revenge against the queen she put in place when her entire village is slaughtered. Her generals are gathering & a new rebellion has started, but all is not as it seems.

The twisting plot of ambition & revenge is full of tough female characters-intelligent commanders, vicious fights, ruthless plotters & no one is surprised they're also women. Also refreshingly non-heteronormative, & full of inventive narcotics, creative demonology, & twisted religious fanatics.-Nici
