Gonna start this tonight, it will be my 3rd time but I know I‘m gonna love it. 😊😍

SamAnne It's in my TBR list for this year. Just finished The Sound and the Fury. What a ride that was. 5y
Jamesmelvinmitchell @SamAnne do you have a favorite? I believe Absalom absalom is mine. 5y
SamAnne @Jamesmelvinmitchell it was my first Faulkner! Somehow just had not read him. I will either read your tagged book first since I own it or Absalom Absalom. 5y
Jamesmelvinmitchell @SamAnne I would do Light in August maybe As I Lay Dying then some short stories before tackling ABSALOM ABSALOM. Just my opinion really tough read. 5y

Well I can finally say I‘ve read this. A few words describe my experience, epic, enlightening, enchanting, life elevating. Might sound silly but I feel better for having read this. Gonna take a few days off then find something short. 😁

PurpleyPumpkin Well done! I haven‘t yet taken the plunge with this one. How long did it take you to read it? 5y
Jamesmelvinmitchell @PurpleyPumpkin Thank you. Almost 2 months but The book is fantastic. On a side note I used to have book reading goals and never picked this up because it would take so long to read. My goal now are just to read each day. Read on my friend. 😁 (edited) 5y
ErickaS_Flyleafunfurled I read it a couple of years ago on Serial Reader (on my phone!) over a few months. I loved Pierre, but Tolstoy was in desperate need of an editor. Glad you enjoyed it! Im glad I read it, but also glad it‘s over 🤣 (edited) 5y

Going to finish out my year with what many consider to be the greatest book Ever written. I‘ve read it before but I was a lot younger and didn‘t comprehend it very well. I‘m also going to try a newer translation. Wish me luck. 😁

EadieB I just finished this a few months ago. I listened to the audio while following along with the book! Great story with great characters! 5y

At the beginning of May I got hurt at work and knew I was going to be off work for a while so I wanted to read something that I normally wouldn‘t have the time to. Many years ago I got started on this beautiful book and I got halfway through but work constraints stopped me from finishing it. Well I finally got done with it I‘ve read many places that this was the greatest novel ever written my Litsy friends I‘m going to agree with that opinion.

LeahBergen I hope you‘re healed up now! I read this book over the course of a year (several years ago) and yes, it‘s most definitely worth it. 😍 6y

This was Dostoyevsky‘s first novel. I think it is masterful, this is my favorite author and his works are fantastic. Russian literature is very formal but if you decide to read him don‘t get all caught up in pronunciations and just say it any way you want. The characters are well defined and the story is beautiful. 5/5

Texreader I‘ve only read Crime and Punishment back in high school, having chosen it for a thesis I had to write in advanced English. Probably a bit much for a 16 year old but I liked it well enough. It is very much a classic, please take the time to find this book and compare to literature from today. Fall in love with a classic.

We often hear "The book is so much better than the movie" and in the case of this book it is totally true. So many movies portray the monster in a negative light that it makes you wonder if it was actually taken from the book. It is such a sad tale and you see the monster as a tragic character and truly feel sorry for him. If you've read this did you agree? If not pick it up and enjoy the real story. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Smrloomis Finally read this last year since it was the anniversary and all. Completely agree with you. 6y
Balibee146 If you get to see either of the National Theatre films of the stage play... With Benefit Cumberbatch and Johnny Lee Miller alternating in the roles they are excellent.... Both do very different takes on the monster... Cumberbatch based on recovering stroke victims and Miller on his infant son.... Fascinating performances. Not available on DVD sadly.. Have to see at a cinema. 6y
