Book 15.5 in the Jack Reacher series and I really don't understand the value of these slotted in short stories.

I love Jack, he's a solid five star read in the full length novels but these short stories have no point and neither do they add to the back story.

In this one we meet Jack as a fifteen year old. Jack didn't read fifteen to me, at times he felt super childish, and others an adult.

Did Lee Child actually write these?

⌯ Whew! Surprisingly good. I decided to read the Jack Reacher series in chronological order. It never disappoints me at all.⁣

⌯ I want to know more about Jack Reacher. This is a short story, but a very awesome starter for the whole series. For a 13-year-old Jack, he's very clever! I'm excited! Yay! A new favorite. 😊⁣

TrishMcCallister Hi @transemr !! Stoked to have you for the books & brews swap. I am actually a fellow Texan and grew up in Dallas but have been living in CA the last 5 years. Hope you are having a great day! 5y
transemr 👋🏼 I can‘t claim texan status - I‘m from Atlanta originally and here right now b/c of my partner‘s job (she‘s from CA, incidentally). it‘s just so hot here. 😰 5y
TrishMcCallister Haha that‘s too funny. And I don‘t blame you. I definitely like the consistently mild weather of California. I am actually moving to Savanah next fall for school. @transemr 5y

In this short story, Lee Child brings us back to the early 70s when a 13 year old Reacher has to uphold the reputation of both his brother and their dad.
