I gave this 4 stars. It‘s philosophical and has a lot of references to Albert Camus The Stranger. Ultimately, it‘s about facing the past and family relationships. I love the game that they played with lotteria (Mexican bingo). Because Paulo was alone a lot he made it more of a fortune telling deck instead of bingo.

Dani's life is thrown into further turmoil when she is sent to New Mexico to live with an aunt she never knew she had. The awkwardness between them is palpable. One day, she meets Paulo, although she is hesitant at first, and a mutual trust develops between them. Forgiving isn't easy, but maybe it's the only way to move forward.

I don't know much about this book, except that it's set in New Mexico & the protagonist likes Albert Camus's The Stranger. I have connections to both! So I'm about to start reading. 😁
