⭐️ Utterly DELIGHTFUL. ⭐️

Fans of Little Women who love remakes and modern takes on this classic story (and who won‘t mind creative liberties) and who also want to see more diversity will enjoy this graphic novel.

“So Not Ghoul” is a colorful, funny, poignant book about a Chinese-American ghost who is laughed at for not dressing like her peers. Great for grades 2-4, grade 3 kids into clothes may be ideal audience. My son thought “girl ghosts” were not very interesting. But it‘s a good one. #diversebooks #ghoststories #kidlit #AsianAmericanAuthors #Scarathalon22 #TeamSlaughter #31by31

No wonder this collection of crime fiction by writers of color is up for the Anthony Award! Great stories in varied styles. The opener by Tracy Clark has a fun twist. Navarez‘s “Docs at Midnight” offers suspenseful blackmail & a bittersweet look at former lovers. Highly recommend all these short stories. #anthology #diversebooks

Perfect gift for friends & relatives who are adopting! This sweet picture book is special because it addresses adoptions both foreign and domestic (books often showcase one or the other.) just heard the author, whose teens were adopted from US and China read it aloud, and this book is one our new favorites. Librarians, this would be an inclusive, fun addition to any collection! #kidlit #adoption #picturebooks #diversebooks

Y‘all, this book. I finished the audio yesterday and can‘t get it out of my head. Reading diverse books are so important. It works empathy, compassion and more understanding into peoples lives that are different than we are. 5⭐️ rec. #diversebooks #bipocauthors #importantbooks

Pizza is the best, but is it always best? Kiddo and I loved this fun, sweet book that celebrates food and cultures from around the world. (Bibimbap-yum!) Bonus: We were inspired to make pizza from the recipe at the back. #5stars #picturebook #diversebooks

I'm joining @Andrew65 in #12Booksof2021, sharing one book every day that was our favorite read from a select month. The City We Became won May hands down, and I read several excellent books that month. This incredible urban fantasy might even be my favorite read of the whole year. Every time I pass a Starbucks I chuckle and imagine it coming to life as a monster. #Fantasy #LGBTQ #DiverseBooks

Andrew65 I really enjoyed that back in January. 3y

Goodreads have had their say, and now it‘s time for us to,have ours! Nominations for the Litsy Awards are now OPEN.

https://forms.gle/gRyFeECjzhKWzUmh9

You must have READ the book to nominate. You do NOT need to nominate something in every Category.

Any questions, just ask. Nominations open until Dec 31, 2021.

SolaRaynor Thank you! Most of the books I read this year were published in previous years. I clicked the link and entered “A Swim in the Pond in the Rain“ by George Saunders. Kind of a long shot, but it's the best book I've ever read on the craft of writing. 3y

kamoorephoto @LibrarianRyan Hey, so something I just read, when confirming the ‘OwnVoices‘ tag is that We Need Diverse Books has stopped using that moniker/hashtag (retroactively). Can we maybe drop that term? Here‘s the blog post about it ☺️ #DiverseBooks https://diversebooks.org/why-we-need-diverse-books-is-no-longer-using-the-term-o... 3y
LibrarianRyan @kamoorephoto I knew that already and forgot to change it. I‘ll change it when the rounds begin. 3y
