Inexcusable
Inexcusable | Chris Lynch
"I am a good guy. Good guys don't do bad things. Good guys understand that no means no, and so I could not have done this because I understand." Keir Sarafian knows many things about himself. He is a talented football player, a loyal friend, a devoted son and brother. Most of all, he is a good guy. And yet the love of his life thinks otherwise. Gigi says Keir has done something awful. Something unforgivable. Keir doesn't understand. He loves Gigi. He would never do anything to hurt her. So Keir carefully recounts the events leading up to that one fateful night, in order to uncover the truth. Clearly, there has been a mistake. But what has happened is, indeed, something inexcusable.

Mehso-so

This is hard to pin down. It‘s well-written, the narrator compelling, it‘s important...but I didn‘t like it or enjoy reading it.

Keir is graduating from high school, and everyone will tell you he‘s a good guy. But his senior year becomes a slippery slope of partying and poor decisions, exacerbated by poor parental oversight. Vandalism, harassment, and eventually date rape are all explained away as “misunderstandings.”

Read this after Speak.

I had seen this book possibly hundreds of times before. It is only after the election that I am curious to see what the perspective of the main character, an accused rapist, is.

CocoReads Sounds interesting. And disturbing. 8y

Today's haul from my fave little consignment shop, the Etcetera Shoppe in Meredith, NH! The best part is I got the whole stack for under $40. #TBRTuesday #underthelitfluence

WanderingBookaneer Room is heartbreaking. Funny how we were talking about The Summer We Read Gatsby the other day. I loved it. 8y

gibblr @WanderingBookaneer That's why I got the Gatsby one. Such a random find! And I was thinking of Vale's warning when I picked that one up. 8y
ptkpepe98 Loved Room, which I read before the movie. Never expected it to be as hopeful as it was, which made me enjoy it even more. 8y

"I said no. That is what matters."
