I‘ve always noticed the upside down ‘B‘ on the Auschwitz sign and wondered if it was a mistake or if that‘s just the way things were done in the past. This book, in a short passage, explains that it was done as an act of resistance by the prisoner tasked with creating the metalwork. The Nazis never noticed. This is the spirit in which this account is written; the Jews were not passive victims and neither was Murray. His story is awe-inspiring.
