Victoria and the Rogue
Victoria and the Rogue | Meg Cabot
5 posts | 11 read | 1 to read
Victoria Growing up in far-off India, wealthy young heiress Lady Victoria Arbuthnot was accustomed to handling her own affairs -- not to mention everyone else's. But in her sixteenth year, Vicky is unceremoniously shipped off to London to find a husband. With her usual aplomb, however, Lady Victoria gets herself engaged to the perfect English gentleman, even before setting foot on British soil. The Rogue Hugo Rothschild, ninth earl of Malfrey, is everything a girl could want in a future husband: he is handsome and worldly, if not rich. Lady Victoria has everything just as she'd like it. That is, if raffish young ship captain Jacob Carstairs would leave well enough alone. Jacob's meddling is nothing short of exasperating, and Victoria is mystified by his persistence. But when it becomes clear that young Lord Malfrey just might not be all that he's professed to be, Victoria is forced to admit, for the first time in her life, that she is wrong. Not only about her fiance, but about the reason behind the handsome ship captain's interference.

Mehso-so

This is my #doublespin for March and my first square on #bookspinbingo this was alright but YA and historical romance don‘t always work. Just that a 16 year old that must marry is blah even if it did use to happen. Also there were some mistakes with accuracy nothing major but I do stop and think when it happens.
Also works for #marchinthetitle21 #nameinthetitle

michasborges Que planner fofinho!!!! 8y
bbackes Ele é ótimo, @michasborges! Passo uns bons minutos decorando a semana! 8y
alessandrafn Explica a lógica, abiguinha! Você usa pra marcar meta de leitura? 8y
alessandrafn Acabei de entender. Metas da semana. Achei que tinha relação com os trequinhos da segunda-feira. Lembrete: não ver essas coisas assim que acordar. 8y
bbackes Hahaha Isso, @alessandrafn! Uso o metas da semana para as leituras. Não gosto de metas, mas às vezes dá consigo fazer para um período curto. Além de uma semana, pode apostar que não vai dar certo! 8y

Pickpick

A fun, fairly lighthearted YA romance with a meddlesome heroine in dire need of her own advice, a handsome suitor with ill-disguised mercenary intentions, a sea captain who is infuriatingly self-sufficient, a larcenous Street urchin with a heart of gold and a purloined gown.
I enjoyed Victoria's desire to manage everything - a sympathetic Emma type. Sweet and silly, with some very fun turns of phrase.

Rather enjoying watching Victoria meddle (oh so helpfully) in everyone else's life, but I do wish Captain Carstairs would start being more charming and slightly less patronizing
