9 posts | 5 read | 5 to read
This Season of Grace, Deepen Your Faith in God Who So Loved the World that He Gave Us His Son. Youre about to meet three women named Mary, each of whom has a life-changing encounter with Jesus. Mary of Bethany prepares the way for the Lords burial when she anoints His feet and fills the air with her perfume. His mother, Mary of Nazareth, remains by His side from His first breath to His last, her loyalty unwavering. Mary Magdalene, delivered of seven demons, bravely supports her Teacher through His darkest hours, then proclaims the glorious news of His resurrection. What a trio. What a Savior! Your mind and emotions will be engaged and your faith strengthened as each scene unfolds, preparing your heart for a richer, deeper Easter experience. Liz Curtis Higgs, a seasoned Bible teacher and award-winning novelist, combines her storytelling skills with a thorough verse-by-verse study of Scripture as together you explore the remarkable lives of The Women of Easter. "The perfect companion for Easter and beyond!" Jennie Allen, visionary of IF:Gathering Liz Curtis Higgs is one of the most amazing teachers of Gods Word that I have ever experienced. Her in-depth knowledge of the Scriptures, gifting as a communicator, and personal relationship with the Lord make her unmatched in the ability to take biblical truth and make it applicable to anybody. Priscilla Shirer, New York Times best-selling author of Fervent "The Lord's resurrection is the most glorious, victorious moment in history. You and I will watch these ancient scenes unfold through the eyes of the three women who were mitnesses, who were there. Just the though gives me goose bumps. All three Marys will show us what happens when we encounter a loving Savior and are transformed. That's what Lent is all about. A time of renewal. A season of grace." Liz Curtis Higgs

Since I couldn‘t be with my family this Easter, I decided to spend some time reflecting on some of the women in the story. I read the Women of Christmas not too long ago, and this is just as insightful. It‘s amazing to me how trained our brains are to see the women in the stories as background, when in reality they had some of the most key story points.

BookBabe Yes, I‘ve noticed that too! #stacked 🙌🏻 3y

“Then Mary took about a pint of pure nard, an expensive perfume; she poured it on Jesus‘ feet and wiped His feet with her hair.” (John 12:3a)

“Mary of Bethany was not one to use words when actions spoke louder. She, who once sat at the Lord‘s feet to learn and fell at His feet to weep, now knelt at His feet with ‘queenlike nobleness,‘ offering a priceless priceless gift.” Liz Curtis Higgs

As I continue this read over this holy weekend I would like to wish my fellow #christiansoflitsy a very happy Holy Saturday!

(Also if any of my fellow Littens are curious about the significance of each of the days of this weekend I'm happy to help! My mom doesn't get it at all, most of my family are atheists so I'm explaining things a lot, always happy to answer questions about what I believe!)

Mimi28 I'm trying to be more religious but my mom is not into it either. I have horrible social-phobia- actual church is just soooo LOUD!! I'd have a panic attack and a headache within a half hour. I do watch TBN though a lot. I love Joyce Meyer and Joel Osteen. This weekend is VERY important. My mom said she will watch Joel with me tomorrow which is a start I guess 👍❤☀️ 8y
maximoffs Joyce is great! I really love Steven Furtick and attend Hillsong myself but I am so glad that you're finding someone that speaks to you! And that's great about your mom! I'll be praying for you both! And if you're ever looking for book recs I have quite a few ❤ 8y
LorieL Happy Easter! I LOVE this message! 💜🌷💜 8y

BookFreakOut Happy Easter to you as well! 😊 Seeing you express your faith in ways like this is inspiring in an everyday sort of way, thanks for sharing. (edited) 8y
maximoffs @LorieL thank you!!!! Happy Easter! @BookFreakOut Thank you! That's so sweet. I've become more open about it because I want to remind people that not all Christians are hateful mean people and there's a ton of us fighting for justice who aren't like the crazy people on TV :) let me know if you ever need anything! 8y

I knew this would be good, its Liz Curtis Higgs and she paints pictures with words, but wow, this one really spoke to my heart. Through the eyes of the women around Jesus before, during and after the crucifixion, I gained a new perspective of this amazing story. I relate to the gift God gives to us better now. It directs back to scripture which allows for time with the Holy Spirit. Along the journey, Liz brings her light, joy and humor! #christian
