Night of the Howling Dogs | Graham Salisbury
1 post | 2 read
DYLAN'S SCOUT TROOP goes camping in Halape, a remote spot below the volcano on the Big Island of Hawaii. The only thing wrong with the weekend on a beautiful, peaceful beach is Louie, a tough older boy. Louie and Dylan just can't get along. That night an earthquake rocks the camp, and then a wave rushes in, sweeping everyone and everything before it. Dylan and Louie must team up on a dangerous rescue mission. The next hours are an amazing story of survival and the true meaning of leadership. From the Hardcover edition.

Night of the Howling Dogs | Graham Salisbury
Pickpick

This book falls under the category of contemporary realistic fiction and was published in the year of 2007. The book goes through a time of camping with a boy Dylan and his scout troop. The story proceeds with the camping taking place in Hawaii at a place called Halape. The weekend is great aside from there being a boy that most do not get along with.
During their time, an earthquake hits, rocks fall, and the boys have to put aside differences.

em_lemo The book is well thought out and is constantly filled with suspense. Throughout the book one is introduced to new trials that they must overcome together in order to complete/continue their rescue mission. One of my favorite sayings throughout this book is,
“I was used to lifting because we were working out with a weight set in my garage, trying to bulk up for high school football.“
This shows some of the things that he will need to use at camp.
