I Survived the Joplin Tornado, 2011 (I Survived #12)
I Survived the Joplin Tornado, 2011 (I Survived #12) | Lauren Tarshis
4 posts | 8 read | 1 to read
A destructive force is about to hit the city of Joplin... Eleven-year-old Dexter has always wanted to see a tornado. So when he gets the incredible opportunity to go storm chasing with the famous Dr. Norman Rays, he has to say yes! Dr. Rays is the host of Tornado Mysteries, the show that Dex and his older brother, Jeremy, watched every night until Jeremy joined the U.S. Navy SEALs and left Joplin. Dex certainly knows how deadly tornadoes can be, but this one isn't heading toward Joplin, and wouldn't it be great to have a brave and exciting story of his own to tell Jeremy when he comes home? But when the tornado shifts direction, Dexter's bravery is about to get seriously tested...

I found 3 “I Survived…” books I hadn‘t read. Tarshis uses a familiar formula to recount the stories of Joplin tornado of 2011, Battle of Gettysburg 1863, and Shark Attacks 1916. She usually adds Author Notes which compare the actual survivors from her extensive research to the fictional characters in her books

Be prepared as I am going going to post several pictures of the Man Cub‘s books for #secretsantakids ... this is most of his ‘Who Are/Is..?‘ books, there more i will post shortly. Of the ‘I Survived‘ we have The Revolutionary War and Gettysburg on Audio. I have no idea where the Demigod Diary came from we have no other books in that series lol and the Mighty (cute) Thor says hi

Ever since I was very young, I've been obsessed with tornadoes. This book perfectly encapsulates the dark fascination with this weather phenomenon while also making sure that the reader never forgets just how destructive and terrible these storms are. Perfect for elementary kids who are weather geeks like I was.

Hahaha for a moment there I was like "...This is totally the plot of Twister." But then Dr. Gage pulls out basically a giant paintball gun which sounds like way more fun than hoping to place something in a tornado's path. ?
