The Convalescent
The Convalescent | Jessica Anthony
2 posts | 1 read | 5 to read
The Convalescent is the story of a small, bearded man selling meat out of a bus parked next to a stream in suburban Virginia . . . and also, somehow, the story of ten thousand years of Hungarian history. Jessica Anthony, the inaugural winner of the Amanda Davis Highwire Fiction Award, makes an unforgettable debut with an unforgettable hero: Rovar Ákos Pfliegman—unlikely bandit, unloved lover, and historian of the unimportant.

Mehso-so

Book 6 for #TenBeforeTheEnd and another one I‘ve had on my shelf for at least a decade. It was interesting and a creative merging of two timelines and some magical realism, but I didn‘t love it. I realized this is by the author of a new book, which I do still want to read - The Most.

#aprilbookshowers day 19: #dontrememberbuyingthis
As most of the books I read (whether ebook or physical book) are from the library, I tend to remember the books I do spend money on. Or so I thought - I couldn't remember how I got my hands on this book. Was it a gift? Did I buy it? Was it a giveaway win? I haven't a clue! And I can't remember if I've read it either! I shall amend that because look at that cover!

diovival Wow. That cover. 8y
