Amiable @Suet624 I used to be a daily news consumer. I read WaPo, NYT, the Atlantic, local news sites, etc. Since 11/6, I can't do it. My eyes skip over anything that at a glance appears political in nature. My brain has disengaged. Where I would once get inspired or irritated into action, I now find myself shrugging and saying, “oh well. That's what they voted for. Not my concern.“ Even though it most definitely is going to be my/our problem(s). 1mo

CatLass007 My Mom was a weather geek. She even took some meteorology classes in college. Growing up she would listen to the weather reports of three different radio stations just to make sure that we‘d know what outerwear to put on when we left for school. When the Weather Channel was launched she was in hog heaven. But I‘m pretty sure she never heard this particular term because she would have used it often and well. CBee @Suet624 oh my gosh, it‘s so good. It can be a bit much if you‘re squeamish, but the banter between the main characters is the BEST. It‘s very nerdy, very science-y. The main character is a forensic anthropologist and is based on real life author Kathy Reichs. Highly recommend it 🦴 😊 3mo

CatLass007 @slategreyskies I haven‘t read it yet, although I do own it. I may never remember exactly where I first read the word, but it‘s not really a big deal. I have a tendency, especially listening to audiobooks, when I encounter a new word to just infer the definition from the manner in which the word is used rather than take the time to look up the actual definition. I‘m so glad @CBee does the work for me, although I am getting better at it. 4mo

Like how chique was already adopted into english with its original French spelling then someone decided it needed to be spelled chic at some point. I've heard many people say the French spelling as sheekwa rather than sheek. 4mo

TEArificbooks My beeking only happens after the sun goes down. As long as the sun isn‘t bearing down the heat feels good for about 5 minutes, warms the bones. Temps dropped about 10-15 degrees this week because it has been cloudy. We aren‘t getting wet, the rain is staying on the mountains but I like the temp drop. 108 feels good after 115+ for weeks. Still getting heat sick every time we leave the house. 6mo
