It‘s raining outside, I‘ve got hot chocolate, the blanket right out of the dryer, and a lovely book. It‘s a perfect afternoon.
Do I have 10 different rain related words saved in my notes app? No comment.

Today‘s #weirdwords choice could make you hungry, or make you feel ill, depending on how you feel about peas 🫛😂 #weirdwordwednesday

A day late, but here we go! 😊
A Ghanaian concept, the word is expanded into the proverb “se wo were fi na wosankofa a yenkyi.”
Sankofa is the understanding that only by knowing your (personal, cultural, national) history can you know your current self, and know how to become better.
The concept feels particularly relevant right now.

This isn‘t the meaning I expected when looking up this word (stumbled upon recently when reading the AMAZING All the Sinners Bleed). But it‘s cool nonetheless! #weirdwordwednesday #weirdwords
My lilacs are blooming, my hydrangeas are up. And the roses are budding! I am so ready for spring.
This word also has a chemistry related definition, used to describe the process of a substance loosing moisture and turning into a fine powder, but I like the first one better.

I admit to having been a #mrsgrundy sometimes in the classroom. 😖🤣😊
I came across this one today. It comes from 'elegy'. Another definition calls it wistfully mournful, which I liked
The book I read it in was describing a poem in which "she sees the woman she‘s in love with sitting next to a man, and admires his composure. Because she knows if she were the one sitting next to the woman, she would be at a loss for words."
I've been reading a lot more poetry this month so I appreciate this new word

I may have to have this beer tonight! 🤣
Stumbled upon this word in my last read - The Devil and Mrs. Davenport (great book). I didn‘t know there was a specific word for speaking in tongues, but I mean, apparently there is a word for everything 😂🙌🏻 #weirdwords #weirdwordwednesday
Nope, it‘s not a type of multivitamin 😂 Just a super cool musical instrument that is apparently quite hard to master. Links: https://youtu.be/-QgTF8p-284?si=yBQCF2IBXR-Z3Tq6

FRIENDS!! Posting late but I didn‘t want anyone to miss out on the absolute cuteness that is the pygmy marmoset! Sometimes I veer off course with the “weird” part, because cute animals 😂 Here‘s an article about them: https://animals.sandiegozoo.org/animals/pygmy-marmoset #weirdwords #weirdwordwednesday
I‘m positive this word has been shared before for #WeirdWordWednesday , but I had to take some books off of a bookshelf today because the shelf has developed a concerning curve to it. So it‘s been on my mind. 😂😂 #WeirdWords
I‘m going to need to buy another bookshelf. 😅
Not really weird but it‘s an opportunity to brag on my oldest kiddo (he will always be a kiddo for me despite being almost 13 😱). He was watching a play through of a favorite video game and mentioned how one villain shows up at the start, but you don‘t actually fight the villain until the end. He said “and that‘s an example of foreshadowing.” LORD I love this kid. #weirdwords #weirdwordwednesday
It‘s starting to get warm enough for walking along the river path! ☀️

Today‘s gray weather was perfect for staying inside, curled up with a book and the last of my brownie batch.

It isn‘t musical instrument related and it isn‘t a fish 😂 I am always excited when I find new X words and especially words that don‘t mean what I think they mean 😃 #weirdwordwednesday #weirdwords
If you, like me, are having a rough time right now, *gestures vaguely at everything* I cannot recommend enough doing things together as a community.
A neighborhood clean up, volunteering at your local library, joining a new book club. Be with people. ❤️ Yes, even us introverts.

Thanks to the #atreeaday daily readings, which I‘m quite behind on, I discovered another new word! This is very science-y, friends. But very cool! Here‘s a link if interested: https://www.thoughtco.com/cladogram-definition-and-examples-4778452

It has been a rough few weeks at home, and I am feeling this word pretty hard right now. But I know I can come here and find small pieces of joy. ❤️

I just really want this word to have something to do with cats 🐱😂 #weirdwordwednesday #weirdwords
Better late than never, friends! I‘ve been on a Bob Dylan kick lately and the term and lyrics (my favorites in the song) above are from one of my favorite songs of his: Visions of Johanna. Anyone ever play blind man‘s bluff as a kid? #weirdwordwednesday #weirdwords

A little less morose than last week's word. Things must be looking up.
I love color words! The bird is a flavescent bulbul, and the fish is a flavescent peacock (a type of cichlid). Apologies for not posting the past two weeks, friends! #weirdwords #weirdwordwednesday

I've been feeling a lot like this lately, especially since 11/5.
I just sent off the first of my packages for Christmas swaps and I am so excited for what‘s coming up. To see my packages get unwrapped, and hopefully enjoyed. Here‘s to the little joys we can create for ourselves. 💖

First snow of the season! And I‘m so glad today is the start of my weekend so I can stay inside, make chocolate chip cookies, and read my books. 💖

I was fine putting marginalia in my textbooks, and maybe literature I was reading for school, but now? It‘s hard for me to write in books (maybe that‘s why #LPMBC wasn‘t my cup of tea 😂)! Anyway, such a pretty word, hope you all enjoy! Here‘s an article about weird medieval marginalia: https://www.atlasobscura.com/articles/medieval-marginalia-books-doodles
Here‘s a fun spooky word for Halloween tomorrow! Also, I have never felt less inspired to take a walk in the woods.

Jesus Christ on toast, faces in clouds, the list goes on and on! And of course, thanks to Bones (still binging and loving), I now know there is a word for this phenomenon 🤓 #weirdwordwednesday #weirdwords
Apparently, it‘s also the molecule responsible for the earthy taste of beetroots, but I care much less about that. 😂
