Tony Chew gets psychic visions when he tastes/eats something. As an FDA agent, investigating murders, you can work out the kind of things he eats to solve crime. You could say Vol 2 of this bat-shit crazy series jumped the shark if it wasn‘t for the fact that Vol 1 already rode the back of 2 sharks on a lead like Poseidon and his dolphins. This is superb and I‘ve got 4 more volumes to look forward to. TW: Massively, disproportionately drawn women.

Cannibalism, a pandemic, espionage, police procedural, other worlds, vampires and…chickens. And that‘s just Volume 1. Probably the most gonzo and wildly original and entertaining comic I‘ve ever read. This was winning Eisner awards during the time The Walking Dead was gaining all the plaudits. It‘s just as gruesome but more cartoonish and, for my money, much more interesting.

I reread the whole series again ahead of this last omnivore edition and it's still amazing. A tremendous achievement in daffy world building where the characters have weight despite the craziness and the deaths are meaningful despite their ubiquity. Uncompromising up until the final frame, Chew is one of the greats.

KCorter I agree completely! This was one of the series that made me fall in love with graphic novels. 7y

So I'm done with the series. I'm giving it a pick despite some misgivings...
what I liked: weird/wackiness to the nth degree. Original concept and fun art. Nods to other comic series and pop culture references galore.
What I didn't like: serious lack of female characters (and a majority of the women have that hourglass shape & gravity defying boobs). A few too many silly/unnecessary digressions in the middle (and too much Poyo for me).
