Light Yagami is an ace student with great prospects - but he's bored out of his mind. But all that changes when he finds the Death Note, a notebook dropped by a rogue Shinigami death god. Any human whose name is written in the notebook dies, and now Light has vowed to use the power of the Death Note to rid the world of evil.

Death Note, a notebook belonging to a Shinigami death god in hand, Light continues pursuing his goal. At first, Light punishes criminals who have gotten away with it/only received light sentences but as his activities draw attention, he casts a wider net. This is a cat & mouse thriller which has you rooting for the good guys AND the bad ones but it‘s also an interesting examination of the means justify the ends. Can good come from something bad?

It takes probably 15-20 pages before my brain readjusts to reading manga, but I love this series. This storyline had me pretty stressed out though. 😬

Stakes start getting higher in volume 2 when FBI agents are sent to Japan to investigate the "Kira" case, where criminals are dropping dead seemingly of their own accord. Light is determined that he is creating a better world, and the mysterious detective L becomes more involved in the hunt for the killer.

I am basically becoming a Death Note fan account with all my recent updates 😂 But I am really enjoying this manga and I can't stop reading it. It's been a while since I've been so attached to anything. In this volume, I didn't like how few things were resolved so it's getting a lower rating than the previous one, but I still like how the plot is developing so far.

I don't remember how many of these I checked out from the library. I hope it was most of them. I need to know what happens next.

Loving this series!! My favourite character (pictured above) has been introduced and he just makes the storyline all the more interesting and compelling. Art is still beautiful and wonderfully done; the flow is super easy and it is a story that keeps you guessing and on the edge of your seat. A must read!

Stopped by the library to pick my copies of Death Note that I had on hold!

I really want to catch up on several others but I can't because my library doesn't allow holds on "new" books.

I am enjoying this series SO, so much.. It is, to me, compulsively readable... So much so that I read to know what happens next, what the _text_ says next, and I forget to look at the actual graphics 🤔🙈 But I'm like that with subtitles in movies and tv-shows as well, I cannot help BUT read them and I forget to watch the screen 😓 But I _highly_ recommend this! GO! Read! #HowToDeathNote
