A family history, surrounded by the history of an era of the United States, early 1900s. I haven't exposed myself to a lot of information from that particular time, so this was interesting.

An okay read, but structural issues held it back. Pieces felt like a research paper, with an overabundance of quotes & tangents down historical rabbit holes. There is a lot of historical information & several minor characters that muddied the narrative. The pieces that focus on the two women are interesting & the story did gain steam as it went along, getting more focused & enjoyable. Not a bad read, but not overly gripping or enthralling.
A visit to Somerset House this morning - small exhibition and then the bookshop (of course!). Followed by Daunt Books ❤️. No purchases yet today... I‘m being VERY well behaved!

A beautiful true story of 2 NY ladies who roughed it as teachers in rural CO in 1916. Blizzards, poverty, & the romantic interest of local men unused to fancy ladies await. Fun read! We have the orig. manuscripts of 1 of the men! Http://bit.ly/1SNFZLf, http://bit.ly/26sthpk, & http://bit.ly/24isDZi
