A Merciful Death
A Merciful Death | Kendra Elliot
FBI special agent Mercy Kilpatrick has been waiting her whole life for disaster to strike. A prepper since childhood, Mercy grew up living off the land--and off the grid--in rural Eagle's Nest, Oregon. Until a shocking tragedy tore her family apart and forced her to leave home. Now a predator known as the cave man is targeting the survivalists in her hometown, murdering them in their homes, stealing huge numbers of weapons, and creating federal suspicion of a possible domestic terrorism event. But the crime scene details are eerily familiar to an unsolved mystery from Mercy's past. Sent by the FBI to assist local law enforcement, Mercy returns to Eagle's Nest to face the family who shunned her while maintaining the facade of a law-abiding citizen. There, she meets police chief Truman Daly, whose uncle was the cave man's latest victim. He sees the survivalist side of her that she desperately tries to hide, but if she lets him get close enough to learn her secret, she might not survive the fallout...

She‘s an FBI agent who‘s being assigned a case where her hometown is. She didn‘t get in touch with her family for more than a decade. He has some secrets that‘s keeping him away from big city. And he‘s the chief police. Together they have murders to solve. I like it. Since the romance between the two are slow and developing and not insta love. #romanticsuspense

A nice quick read, with a decent twist. I could have done without the romantic angle; it was just unnecessary.

tracey38 This one was a so-so for me as well. 6y

My first library pick! This is a fast paced read with very enjoyable characters. I loved the twists and turns throughout the book. I was constantly wanting to know what happens next and was never disappointed with the results. I enjoyed this book enough that I bought the second in the series for my kindle. I would definitely recommend this book to a friend to get them back to daily reading!

This story was so-so for me. A lot of the overall mystery I liked but something about the main character Mercy just didn't pull me in. But a good, short, quick e-read for work during downtime between patients.

This was a pretty good mystery. It had a lot of interesting details and twists throughout it. I liked the characters and found it to come together well in the end. I found some parts to be a bit slow. But overall, I really enjoyed this one.

Crime fiction/police procedural featuring a survivalist community in Oregon. I have not read anything featuring 'preppers' or their like before, so I really enjoyed this! The author is not skimpy with survivalist details in her characters, setting, etc etc.

It was interesting to watch Mercy struggle to fit back into her family and the community as an FBI agent after a disgraced exit years ago.

There is very lite romantic suspense toward the end.
